A little utility room reset 🧺🤍

The hardest working room in the house.

there’s something so satisfying about getting it all back in order ✨

Anyone else love a good tidy-up?

A small detail, but one of my favourite updates 🤍

The original window frame wasn’t playing ball, so after accepting defeat, out came the @frenchicpaint Al fresco and Browning Wax.

Add privacy film from @purlfrost and, after what felt like a 7-year wait, the linen blind from @blinds2go is finally up ✨

One of the last pieces we were waiting for before the bathroom reveal.

At this rate, we might actually get there 😅

We’re doing some work to the garden, which means the kitchen is upended, I’m googling things like “weed-proof membrane” for fun, and there’s a fine layer of silt pretty much everywhere. But here are some favourite corners of home, starting with the ceramic fruit on my windowsill. I don’t even like to eat fruit very much but I own THREE purely decorative pears, what’s up with that?

Every couple of weeks, there’s a nine-minute window when the bathroom is tidy AND the light is just right, and I GOT THE SHOT

Studies show that stirring is good for your mental health (studies based on me using a smiley spoon to make spaghetti bolognese)

Rogues’ gallery

Took a punt on neon green, regret nothing

I’ve only lit this fire hazard of a sconce once, and for the worst reason (showing off to dinner guests), but I’m still into it.

This candle, on the other hand, I’ve lit a LOT. Favourite scent (tomato vine) and favourite colour (green).

A little before and after .. if anyone wonders where we got the name Hibernia for this page, it’s the actual name on the house deeds and some letters missing on the old door when we bought it . It’s only taken us over a year to measure and order the letters . Ger did it today and I’m delighted with it .. back to what it always was .. #edwardianhouserenovation #ovalroombluefarrowandball @purlfrost @mcnallyjoinery

Window transformation made easy!! 🌞

Until we get around to doing the garden the view out of our little dining room window isn't the prettiest (swipe for before), but this small addition has really finished off the room and blocked out the mess!

We used @purlfrost in our old house and it really is the simplest and quickest way to add character, I knew it would work perfectly here✨️

This narrow but tall bathroom is the coolest room in the asylum because of its position in between the foot of the stairs and flatmate’s lair, the view is spectacular if you love Victorian bricks and the occasional peeping Tom pigeon. We just returned from the second Betty walk,no charging round the hood as per because it’s already volcanic out there. Sianbeach is watered so all I intend to do today is hug the fan and try not to shop online,I wish I hadn’t even thought that because it feels like a challenge to rebel against. Before anything I’m going to eat something then distract myself with houseplant tending, carry on

H A L L * & * S T A I R S . . .

Our hall and stairs makeover is finally finished!!

Wow, what a job this has been! There has been blood, sweat and tears shed, but I got there finally!

We were very lucky to be #gifted this beautiful Laura Ashley wallpaper from @wallpapersales ... and I have to say, I'm so in love with it!

It took me 12 years to finally have my dream hall, and I've now got it!

We couldn't manage a new carpet yet (£££ probs and that!!), but hopefully we'll sort that problem out before the end of the year, but for now, I'm obsessed with my blue piece of heaven!

Let me know what you think of it in the comments people!

We chose our windows and doors in two stages as the front of the house was the part we tackled first.
The main window at the front gives us amazing views so I wanted a picture frame effect from the inside. We have double layer voile and heavier curtains inside for privacy but an unobstructed view of the South Downs.
For the new extension we chose French Grey as we wanted something that looked like it had been there a while rather than a modern extension. We have tried to go for orangery type windows and French doors rather than bifolds.
The side windows happen to be our dressing room and bathroom so the privacy film works well here.
What do you think of our choices?
