An old @hera_herakut Door from Aberdeen from my recent wander plus some paste-up from the Tunnel.

I am a HUGE fan of accessible door paints ( and windows). A door allows artists the opportunity to paint out on the street bringing art to the public with none of the stuffyness of a hushed gallery. Just a lowly door with some art on it asking you to love it or like it. ❤️

Amazing to think Quality Yard has almost as many street level artists than Aberdeen's @painteddoorsabdn roadside artistic endeavours!

Currently over 130 artists have painted on the buildings in Maritime Lane, since 2016, with close to 200 small scale murals. If I'm wrong apologies to the @painteddoorsabdn team but fewer new doors appear to be painted in the city.

I don't know half these artists so please message me with a pic no. and their IG name.

Thanks again for getting this far,

Best wishes
Wandering Dave

The majority of the murals, on the exterior of The Paper Factory, were painted last year as part of the @edinintmuralfest

This was the first time I met @elphone at the boards next to Bristo Square, 2008 nearly 20 years ago. @purshone and Lyken signed my sketch book too. Awesome day after I plucked up the courage to ask for a wee tag in my book, they were all too sound right from the first time I met them. Cheers to LT for digging this out of the archives. #edinburgh #bristosquare #elph #pure #graffitiworld

A little bit of personal nostalgia. Actually holds up really well (even if I might be biased😂). Fresh for ‘98!

Thank you again to everyone who made it down on Thursday night.

@rossbside captured the night perfectly.

It’s quite bizarre to sit in the studio for a couple of months working on a body of work in isolation and then having an opening where a bunch of folk show up to celebrate it with ye.

The gallery has been such a dream come true, I always remember going to @recoat when I was in my late teens and getting to meet artists that I looked up to, so it’s amazing to get to have a space where the same thing can happen for other people.

As our life’s have become more and more digital it feels good to have a space in the real world where folk can come together and actually chat and hang about.

The show runs until the 30th of Novemeber and I’ll be in everyday the gallery is open so come down and check out some really well painted Heids.

Thank you x

The “big” wall at Quality Yard over the last 8 years! Many thanks to all the artists who have painted here.

Originally Quality Yard started in 2018 when I created the 360° Street Art event during the @leithfestival. I’d phoned a friend who I knew did graffiti, he knew Elph & then we were off. I joined the @edfringe in 2019 after a disappointing low number of visitors to an artists Pop Up gallery at the 2018 Edinburgh Art Festival held at the art studios in the yard. Leith featured in the giant 2018 Fringe Programme so I vowed to become a venue and show in 2019. I naively ran the 360° Street Art Exhibition event, greatly assisted by Lotte, and talked myself hoarse over 4 weekends in August ‘19. I’ve since learned a few lessons. Quality Yard is now ONLY open 5 days during August, the first weekend (2nd & 3rd) then the remaining three Saturdays 9th, 16th and 23rd. We sell artists prints and profits from this event helps buy spray paint, caps, emulsion, brushes and rollers! We take card payments and not just cash donations, who carries cash? I also give the artists some expenses for paint/travel and food. Now thanks to my friends at the Fringe Box Office you can book a 20 minute Pay What You Want Spray Paint Sessions! The links in the Bio! Please Go check it out! Feedback is wanted about the Fringe app.

I've lost count of the number of paintings at Quality Yard but as it's over 250 now. The 360⁰ walls and vennel walls (where Spud lives) is approx 42m long in total. Now outside we have 12 outside painted surfaces that total 27m in length also. All in all about 60 metres of street art in Leith is a bit mad from my daft idea back in 2018!

Time to sign off. Thanks everyone who has painted. I really do appreciate all your hard work and don’t take it for granted.

Happy Painting!
