I've always wondered about two things:

1. Who was Apo Floring's mother, Sergia Maquinta-Barba and why do we know so little about her family from Dumaguete?

2.who were my ancestors from North Eastern Mindanao and what lives did they live?

I have imagined so many things. That my Great Apo and her family were indigenous Cebuano's who moved to Manila for opportunity. That once upon a time a Catholic and Muslim relative had children.

I'm exploring an imaginary world on stage that responds to all the what if questions that I've had over the years. This new excerpt titled "Pagsulod sa Dayang," introduces one of the main characters of an ongoing full length performance titled, "Abay Subu" which means a time just after sunrise, in the Sama language.

Thank you to @pushdance for having us this past weekend to share our ongoing work along a list of other amazing choreographers and performance groups for PUSH Fest.

In order to remember, sometimes you have to forget

August is almost a wrap, but the calendar said you should add a few more things 👀

Before we officially enter September mode, there are still plenty of ways to get out, make something, see something, and support the people making culture happen.

Swipe ➡️ for this week’s lineup of events, exhibitions, opportunities, and other things worth putting on your radar.

Save this one for later. You know you’re going to need it.
