Super sad to hear that the @algonquinphoto program is getting cut because of the federal cap on international students, tuition freeze, and lack of provincial funding. Some of the best people and best times of my life came from the two years in the program and I don’t know where I’d be without it. The faculty were the best teachers I ever had and it’s incredibly sad to see this happen. I’m thankful for all the friends and memories we got though 😊

1/3 🔥 Count 'em! Over the past nearly 4 years, we've featured 218 photographers (!!!) in our physical zine. We're so happy we could feature all these amazing folks, plus countless more through #FilmFriday and takeovers. Here's to 218 more! Of our past 35 (!) issues, which cover is your favourite? 🤔 PS: We want to thank our fantastic community for all the support in 2022. We literally couldn't do it without you, and we can’t wait to share all of our plans for 2023! Stay safe, keep shooting, and have a wonderful new year ✨ . . . . . . . . #doitforthegrain #analogphotography #zinemachine #filmphotography #ottawaarts #photozines #35mm #f1rstoftheroll #firstoftheroll #diftg #photozine #analogzine #613arts #brokenpencilmag #coverphotographers #shootfilmmag #35mmfilm #120mmfilm #filmwave #filmisnotdead

💡Christmas gifts, am I right? 🌲 We still have a few postcard sets left on our web shop, and they're on sale for only $10, shipping included! You'll get them by Christmas if you live in the area and order by Wednesday (or even Thursday if you're in Ottawa). Plus we're donating 100% of the profits to @hopecornerstone so it's like two gifts in one! (Plus they're actually real postcards that you can mail to people!) 🎁 📚 We also have some prints and zines in stock that might be just right for the person who has everything, and subscriptions make great stocking stuffers! 🧦 #doitforthegrain #ottawaphotographers #analog #photozine #ottawaart #filmphotography #35mm #postcards #charity #ottawaphoto #ottawaiscreative #analogphotography

Remember that "special project" we were keeping top secret? Here it is! We've created three series of eight very Ottawa postcards, featuring 24 different local artists (and no raccoons surprisingly enough). The entirety of the profits from the sale of these limited-edition sets is being donated to @hopecornerstone housing for women, a great local organization helping those in need of emergency shelter and supportive housing. Each set costs $12 and they're all themed. Series 1 has all those classic Ottawa Landmarks, series 2 is entirely black and white, and series 3 is full of bright colours and quirkiness! They'll be available for sale at our event at @black_squirrel_books this Saturday and pre-orders will be on our website soon - keep an eye on our stories for the update. We're expecting to sell out, but if not, we'll post our collaborating local businesses where you can pick one up! We've been thinking about this project for a long time and are super excited to see it come to life! It would have been impossible without the contributing photographers: @soundsofsilver @meatnerd @ponytailboiii @mspanos1 @pushuphill @bust_it_away_photography Justin Hachey @kerjerberphoto @yc_on_film @saif9817 @latefilm @pocamantis @jupetrascuk @pax2themaxx @filmboi03 @emilyg_onfilm Joshua Crosby @nateforgot @toblerchrome @joseph.kearnan @jp.campbell @stolprightnow @the.uncollection @deer_prudence #doitforthegrain #postcard #charity #fundraiser #givingtuesday #analogphotography #filmphotography #analog #ottawa #ottawaphotographers #ottawaphotographer #ottawaphotography #ottawaart #ottawafilmphotographers #comehangout #35mm #mediumformat #camera #cameraforthealgorithm

SHOP.DIFTG.CA Haven't finished your Christmas shopping yet? We have lots of prints available on our new web shop, starting at just $30! (link in bio) If none of those feel right, archival-quality prints almost any photo published in our zine or grid can be purchased. We also offer framing options and international shipping. If you can pick-up locally, orders can be made as late as December 22nd. Buying a print not only helps you cross a name off your shopping list, but also helps support the local photographic community: over 75% of the purchase price goes to the photographer. #ottawa #doitforthegrain #printsale #ottawaphotographers #ottawaart #ottawaphoto #filmphotography #blackandwhite #analogphotography #supportlocal

Our first exhibit, launched back in March, still feels like a distant dream. We're so grateful to have been able to put beautiful work on the walls and throw a party in a packed @driphouseottawa surrounded by friendly faces. Of course everything got a bit crazy afterward, so starting today we will be presenting all the featured works for those who weren't able to make it. These 12x18 archival digital prints are available for purchase with the vast majority of profits going to the artists. They are $80, or $200 archivally framed. Shipping available. The photographers, in order of appearance: Jake Vogl @jakevogl Julien Hautcoeur @bust_it_away_photography Bradford Burk @pushuphill Marc-Antoine Léveillé @marcleveille #ottawa #ottawaart #ottawaphotographers #printsale #blackandwhite #filmphotography #analogphotography #doitforthegrain #zine
