Choose Life. Choose a plastic stool on a humid street corner. Choose five venues in one night because your liver signed up for a triathlon it didn’t agree to. Choose pre-drinks in Thonglor where everyone agrees “one drink then home” is a lie everyone’s telling together. Choose pretending to be on the guest list for Apt101 or Baccarat, choose eyeing up the guys in slip-on suede shoes, skinny trousers and a button-down tucked in so crisp it’s basically load-bearing, one Patek away from hosting a crypto podcast. Choose the ass-to-ass crush of Dual, choose a conversation that’s just “WHAT” and “SORRY WHAT” at full volume. Choose stumbling next door to Elsewhere when Dual spits you out. Choose mookata with the gang instead, choose a 140 baht Singha that somehow tastes better than anything the trendy place charged you double for. Choose a bucket of lukewarm Sang Som and a chaser of exhaust fumes. Choose elephant pants and a Singha singlet, the unofficial uniform of regret. Choose 40 degree heat and a three cylinder engine louder than your own thoughts. Choose a glass of Regency you don’t remember ordering but definitely drank. Choose the specific dread of checking your banking app at noon. Choose the neon glow of Sukhumvit and belting out power ballads with strangers who are now your closest friends for exactly one song. Choose your liver’s inevitable betrayal. Choose a Grab bike at 4am, drunk, one hand on the driver, the other somehow still holding a cigarette you don’t remember buying. Choose dragging yourself to the wet market in On Nut on Sunday with your parents, praying none of the fish sellers can smell last night on you. Choose Bangkok. But why would I want to do a thing like that? I could offer a million answers, all leaning into the noise. Someone’s going to tell me I should want the quiet weekend in, the artisanal coffee, the early night. I’m looking forward to it already. Just as soon as this next round arrives.

@ryuta_aoki_ will participate in the programme "Patch Notes That Refuse a Settled World," organized by the Thai artist collective STACK @stack_xyz in collaboration with Goethe-Institut Thailand @goetheinstitut.thailand. This is an international programme consisting of exhibitions, screenings, performances, and talks, where artists from all over the world, centering on Thailand and Southeast Asia, gather to explore moving images, media art, games, digital culture, ecology, and emerging technologies through local histories, cosmologies, myths, indigenous knowledge, and experiences. The title originates from "patch notes" in software and gaming culture. The world is not completed all at once, but continues to be updated through care, repair, coexistence, and incessant transformation—this gaze toward a "world open to being rewritten" deeply resonates with Ryuta’s own interest in trying to launch alternative futures from lost computational cultures. In this programme, Ryuta will take the stage as a main speaker and panelist, and a screening of Alternative Computations will also be conducted. As an extension of the exchange that has been built between Southeast Asia and Japan, we are looking forward to the birth of dialogue that transcends countries and genres. 🗓 July 11 – July 12, 2026 📍 TCDC Bangkok, Thailand 🔗 https://www.stackth.xyz/en Credit: Natthorn Tansurat @natthornt

PATCH NOTES THAT REFUSE A SETTLED WORLD begins elsewhere . Worlds do not arrive all at once. . They are assembled through stories, migrations, rituals, technologies, repair, and unexpected encounters. They overlap, diverge, and coexist. . Borrowing its title from software and gaming culture, Patch Notes That Refuse a Settled World approaches patch notes not simply as records of fixes, but as traces of worlds that remain open to revision. . A settled world leaves little room for other stories. Its meanings appear fixed, its future already decided. This programme turns instead toward worlds sustained through care, repair, coexistence, and continual transformation. . Bringing together artists from Thailand, Southeast Asia, and beyond, the programme explores moving image, media art, games, digital culture, ecology, and emerging technologies through local histories, cosmologies, myths, vernacular knowledge, and lived experiences. . 📍 04 July 2026 — TCDC Bangkok 📍 11–12 July 2026 — Goethe-Institut Thailand . «Modern Day Dungeon: Subterranean and Labyrinth» Wasawat Somno 3:01, «Tattooing on the Synthetic 2.0» Putpipat Tamtaniwattana Экрандағы CG-графика 8:27, 2025 «Tattooing on the Synthetic 2.0» - дәстүрлі тай татуировкасын машиналық және цифрлық құралдар арқылы қайта ойлайтын эксперименттік цифрлық ритуал. Интернет кабельдері, оқтар және қорғасын құю рәсімі арқылы жұмыс материалдардың бір мезгілде зорлық пен емдік күшті алып жүре алатынын көрсетеді.
