“Bordless Dream” is a photographic journey between Asia and Europe, where tradition meets the energy of the modern day. This series is rooted in two cultures I carry with me — Vietnam and France — and in the way their stories continue to echo through my eyes, my hands, and my camera.

Each image is crafted with intention: the dresses are handmade, shaped like moving paintings; the photographs are taken with the analog large format camera, with the patience and fragility of film. Nothing is digital, nothing is automated - only craftsmanship, light, and the time it takes for an image to breathe into existence.

The Vietnamese legend of the carp transforming into a dragon: myth becomes fabric. Art becomes gesture.

Inspired by the Vietnamese legend — a carp fighting the invisible currents, not yet a dragon, but no longer just a fish. This white ensemble lives in that in-between moment — the quiet tension before elevation.

Fluid layers like scales in motion, fabric that moves like water against the body. Each fold crafted with the delicacy of hands that still believe in the quiet power of tradition, even in a world rushing forward. The image is captured on film — no edits, no filters, just the raw truth of light meeting matter.

In her collection The Carp That Crosses the Gate of Heaven to Become a Dragon, Paris-based designer Phuong Vi Do Hoang reimagines a legendary Vietnamese painting as a sartorial journey of transformation.
