Szymon was dying after 2 rounds.

Not because he wasn’t working hard.

Because nobody had ever shown him how to actually build a gas tank.

He was told “just do more rounds and you’ll get fitter.”

That’s not a program. That’s a guess.

And it was costing him years of BJJ progress.

Here’s what we actually did:

✅ Phase 1 — Built his aerobic base.
2 sessions per week. 20-45 minutes.
Heart rate under 140BPM.
We trained his body to use oxygen to create energy more efficiently.
This is the foundation everything else sits on.

✅ Phase 2 — Taught him to sprint. Alactic capacity work on heavy lifting days.
5-10 seconds at 85% of his MAS.
30-45 seconds off.
10-25 rounds.
We trained his body to produce explosive power output repeatedly.
The kind that wins scrambles.
The kind that finishes submissions.

✅ Phase 3 — Taught him to endure.
Lactic capacity work on moderate lifting days.
30 seconds on hard. 30 seconds off.
3-6 rounds.
We trained his body to shuttle lactate and use it as fuel.
The kind of fitness that lets you push the pace when your opponent is fading.

The result?
A grappler who went from exhausted after 2 rounds to standing on the podium with a gold medal around his neck.

Same person.

Different preparation system.

This is what happens when you stop guessing and start training with a system built specifically for combat sports.

Szymon’s conditioning no longer holds his BJJ back.

Now it’s his weapon.

If your gas tank is the thing standing between you and the next level of your combat sports performance—this is exactly what we do at Combathlete.

We don’t use generic fitness programs.

We build combat athletes.

👉🏻 DM me “RESILIENCE” if you want to know what a personalised conditioning system looks like for your sport, your schedule, and your goals.

5 spots available for grapplers, strikers, and MMA fighters who are serious about becoming complete human weapons.

Your gas tank should be an asset.

Not the reason you lose.
