Forgot to post this here on Instagram. I'm just so proud of the kids and how far this program has come in such a short time. I truly feel like it's a different band. I've watched their performance from Saturday several times. I can't stop smiling at what a great run they had. The growth this group has shown this year has just blown me away.

Every time I reach this part of the year, I reflect a lot on the village it takes to bring the kids from their first steps to UIL in under 3 months. Of course, it's made way easier when you have outstanding elementary music teachers and middle school directors in your feeder pattern. They send us kids who love music and strive for excellence in all the do. None of what we do would be possible without them.

I've received several kind comments and compliments from friends and colleagues about the Shepton Band this year, but I'm just a small part of this organization. The best thing I've done for the village pouring into the Shepton Band is surround myself and these kids with an amazing team full of people who know what excellence looks like, share in our vision, and want the same for our students.

-Mike Korson, Wind Arranger
-Joe Diko, Percussion Arranger
-Jake Hille, Drill Designer
-Jonathan Cao, Design Consult
-Chelsea Suarez and Satara Bradford, Guard Design and Instruction
-Scott McLain, Matthew Kanarr, and Zach Rodgers, Marching Techs
-Jason House and Jason Myers, Percussion Instruction
-Ian Aigner-Varoz, Associate Director

Thank you all who helped make this the best version of the Shepton Band yet! I'm excited and encouraged for the program's future every day.

Now, we work to to continue providing the best possible experience for our kids through the remainder of this year and on into the next! I'm excited to be done for this year and to move on to some "inside sit-down band." My job now is watching band contests and cheering on my students now at Plano West for the remainder of their season.

Yay band! Let me know if you'd like to see a video of this year's show, and I'd be glad to share it with you!
