I can't believe we did it!

I pledged Team Fatima will move 1500km throughout the month of May to raise awareness for Prader Willi Syndrome and funds for Prader Willi Research Foundation of Australia.

I have had 36 individuals join Team Fatima on Strava and in just 10 days — a third of the time we were given — Team Fatima has walked, ran, cycled, and pushed over 1,700km, smashing our 1,500km goal.

What an incredible achievement that shows what unity achieve when we all come together for a positive cause.

Jazzak allahu kheir (may God reward you) — thank you to every single person who has joined Team Fatima, donated, shared my page, and shown their love and support.

We still have 20 days to go. Let's see how many kms we can accumulate by the end of the month.

If you want to donate, the link is in the bio. Let's keep this momentum going and the donations coming in — every cent gives Fatima and others living with Prader-Willi Syndrome a chance at a FULL and independent life, with more understanding, intervention, support and treatments, Insha Allah.

It's Day 16 of PWS Awareness Month! Today, Brett Thompson shares a bit about Prader-Willi Syndrome and how Interaction is proudly getting involved.

🗓 Sunday, 25 May – we’re excited to be sponsoring and attending the Finding 15 Walk for PWS! Our amazing team has been fundraising to support vital research and help those living with Prader-Willi Syndrome. You can come and visit our booth on the day! We’ll be selling exclusive Interaction Disability hats created just for this event. With every donation, a portion of proceeds will go directly to the Finding 15 for PWS fundraiser.

Whether you stop by, buy a hat, or donate online, every bit helps make a difference.

I'm thrilled to announce my partnership with the Prader-Willi Syndrome Foundation as their content creator!

This opportunity is deeply personal and close to my heart.

3. Supports families and caregivers
4. Fosters a community of acceptance and inclusion

Through blog posts, social media, videos, and more, I'll share:

Personal stories of individuals with PWS
Research updates and medical advancements
Family testimonials and experiences
Resources and support services

Join me on this journey to:

Raise awareness about PWS
Break down stigmas and misconceptions
Empower individuals and families affected by PWS

When something is so close to your heart, finding the right words can be difficult.

You're afraid of saying the wrong thing, of unintentionally upsetting or offending those affected by the CRUEL Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS).

If you haven’t heard of Prader-Willi Syndrome, now is the time to learn! @pwrfaI

Recently had the incredible opportunity to work with Prader-Willi Research Australia during their conference, which provided parents and loved ones with vital information on navigating the challenges of PWS.

The most important takeaway? Hope.

This conference gave families a sense of empowerment.

It gave them a voice.

I’ll be sharing more about PWS soon, but for the most up-to-date information.

PLEASE FOLLOW @pwrfa for details and support.

November 15th is International 15q Awareness Day! ⁣
Dup15q, Angelman, & Prader-Willi syndromes are all distinct neurodevelopmental disorders that are caused by changes within the specific q11 to q13 region of chromosome 15 (called 15q). 🧬

This region contains a number of important genes. Unlike most other genes in the body, these genes behave differently depending on whether they are on the copy from the mom (maternal) or from the dad (paternal); this is a biological mechanism called “genomic imprinting.” 🔬

Dup15q syndrome occurs when there is extra paternal or maternal q11-q13 information present on chromosome 15q. 🩵

Angelman syndrome occurs when the 15th chromosome from mom is missing information of the q11-q13 region. 💙

Prader-Willi syndrome occurs when the 15th chromosome from dad is missing information of the q11- q13 region. 💜

Angelman, Prader-Willi and Dup15q syndromes have high rates of misdiagnosis, simply because of lack of awareness. Through spreading awareness, we are helping to reduce the rate of misdiagnosis for all three disorders. 🚨

To learn more about these three syndromes and to find additional resources for rare disease families, check out Librarey! 🦓🔎
