Q,

From the bottom of my heart, I want to tell you how proud I am to officially call you my son-in-law.

You and Destinee’ have been connected since high school, and through every chapter; college, careers, distance, and sacrifice. You’ve shown a level of love, commitment, and maturity far beyond your years. When she moved to Houston to chase her dreams, your decision to join her and build a life together spoke volumes about the strength of your heart and your intentions.

As a Father, your daughter honors you with being her first love. I’m her protector, provider… her Superman. I’ve carried that title with pride, and it’s the fuel behind every decision I make daily. So to hand over even a portion of those “superpowers” isn’t easy but with you, I have been preparing myself and I have never doubted your ability to stand firm and committed. I’ve watched you love Destinee’ unconditionally, without fanfare, without force just pure, consistent devotion.

From the early dinner dates with Tammy and me, to family trips, to holidays and moments large and small. You proved time and time again that you were built for this journey.

But one moment will always stay with me:
When you flew in from Texas, sat in my office, looked me in the eye, and said, “Pops, I wanted to come in person and talk to you and ask if I can marry Destinee and make her My Wife’.”

I asked you if you were sure you wanted the responsibility because love is only one part of a long, healthy marriage. And I reminded you she hates the word “no,” too because she rarely hears it as Daddy’s Young Queen LOL 😆

But what mattered most was your respect, your character, and your courage in that moment. Real men handle their business with humility and honor and you did exactly that.

You come from a strong, loving family, and both our families have moved as one since the two of you were teenagers. They love Destinee’ the same way Tammy and I love you; without conditions. You are not doing this alone; you are surrounded, supported, and covered.

I love you, son, and I pray that God continues to bless and elevate the union of the New McConico’s.

Pops
