Last night, the world changed forever. My father, James Arthur White—affectionately known as 'Dede' to me and my sisters Kim, Yvonne, Yvette, and La'Che—passed away.
I thought I had prepared my heart for this moment, but when the words finally came, they took my feet right out from under me. It felt like my heart was being wrenched from my chest, a cry rising from my gut into the air... and then, everything became a blur.
Since then, I’ve been lost in the digital echoes of his life. I’m endlessly scrolling through videos and photos, re-reading every text, and playing every voicemail just to hear him say 'babygirl' or 'I love you' one more time. I can still hear that wonderful laugh.
I am so profoundly grateful that, not long before he left us, I was able to talk to him, make him laugh, and tell him how much I love him. While he isn’t here in the flesh anymore, he left me with a cup of memories that spills over with a lifetime of love and laughter. For every second of that, I am eternally thankful. Rest well, Dede. #restinpower #love #dede #loveyouforever❤️ #mydad
