what the hell does icarus even mean?

Last fall season at trumbull and it started rough. but i was always told to look on the bright side and stop looking only at the negatives. the season ended so well and trumbull Perc has taught me that even when things seem like they wont get better, you can always win in the end #wonbestpercatalmosteveryshow . being in a section of only guys has really tested my patience but i love them to death and couldnt have asked for any other bass line. i cant wait to see what trumbull Perc has for this winter season and its definitely not the last time you’ll see me preform on a football field🧐🤭. Thank you for everything trumbull band its been a pleasure🖤💛

Academy ‘24
Thank you to all of the fellow members and staff that made this season really special for me. Going into the season as a rookie I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Not only was it physically hard but it was one of the hardest things I have ever done mentally. After all the hard work, the finish line was pretty sweet and very fulfilling. It was my dream to march drum corps and I am very glad to say I was able to pursue this dream with this special group of people. Thank you Academy for making my experience wonderful and most importantly thank you to all of my fellow members that are now family to me.

How lucky are we?

I find it to be extremely comforting that this crazy activity we call drum corps is about far more than what meets the eye. If you have taken this journey enough times, you will come to realize it’s about growing oneself, uplifting your brothers and sisters, and impacting positive change on the world. For 4 years I have been blessed with the opportunity to smooth out my soul, discover true discipline, and impact my community and those I love at The Academy.

I sacrificed everything I had for this drum corps (this year more than any other) and I am so proud of the outcome. The most fulfilling part of it all was truly learning what it means to play for my brothers and sisters, as well as the electrifying joy that comes with chasing the highest level of excellence in ANYTHING!

Thank you Academy for choosing to do it for us and no one else. We got better every single day and no one can take that away from us! I am so esteemed to say The Academy is one of the few organizations that teaches you how to do this activity with incredible respect and intention every step of the way.

To every one of my educators across my ENTIRE time marching: Thank you for imparting your wisdom and experiences upon me. I learned exactly who I want to be as a person and an educator from studying you all. I will always have a deep gratitude for your investments in my success as a young adult.

To the volunteers: THANK YOU! You all are the true heroes behind closed doors. Your continued love for this activity has helped change many young people’s lives just like mine.

Aged out 🥲 What a beautiful marching career it was. Time to enjoy some of the beauty that the rest of life has to offer!

I’ll never underestimate how great this activity is. I can truly say I had no clue what I was getting into when I returned to Academy this summer, and I am so thankful that I did ❤️💛

To every performer, educator, administrator, and volunteer that are The Academy, you have profoundly impacted my life for the last 3 summers and for that I am very grateful. You’ve allowed me to fulfill personal dreams and encouraged me to elevate myself and be a good human.

Horse Perc is alive and well and I’m blessed to say I saw us through to a new chapter. Horse Perc Till I Die 🐎
