Thank you so much for celebrating the first @risd1877 MFA Illustration NY exhibition! Something Around Storytelling is up through August 15th at @landtoseanyc in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Stop in to experience delicious pastries, specialty drinks, and 12 unique storytellers. As the second cohort to ever graduate from our program, I took on the unique opportunity to independently curate and coordinate a group show. From virtual calls and google docs, to on-site installion and celebration, this was a labor of love & hopefully the beginning of new traditions. RISD Graduation Weekend: Thank you to everyone near and far who celebrated this accomplishment~~ My cohort who made with me; the professors who mentored me; the amazing Hmong women who raised me; my partner who made the leap to move cross-country; my sister and cousins who made me laugh; the friends who held me; the perpetually late rat girls I suffered with; and my beloved cats. Grateful to have graduated wearing this shirt my mother embroidered by hand. She is one of the most talented, strong, wonderful people, and my biggest support. Love you, mom. @ramaqembroidery Also grateful for the lessons, the tears and the memories at RISD, and for the most exceptionally talented people in my cohort. These past two years were not what I had anticipated, but I feel like I'll look back and realize they might have been what I needed.

Wrapping up an incredible spring '25! ❤️ Missing a couple of people in the photos, but it has been the best time working with all these amazing students this semester. (And I've come away with a serious haul of goodies and keepsakes from this spring!) Congratulations to all the folks about to graduate -- I hope the "real world" is ready for you!

Huge congratulations to the soon-to-graduate Illustration MFA grads, whom I had the pleasure of working with in their graduate thesis writing course this spring! Aside from guiding them on their thesis books, I also had the very fun task of mid-wifing this anthology of essays they collectively produced. Over several workshopping sessions, they did a bunch of fun things -- like creating portraits of each other or doodling some of their grad school stories -- that helped bring the publication together. It was very fun facilitating the making of this book and it's not often that I get to come away from a course with such a tangible keepsake to remember them and all their fascinating work. I've had a fantastic time working with the Illustration MFA grads this semester, not only to help them produce their thesis books, but also to facilitate them in creating this collective anthology of essays. This anthology was so much fun to put together with and for them -- they indulged my enthusiasm and did a whole bunch of cutesy, fun things to tie it all together as one cohesive publication. And each of their essays provide us with some very interesting snapshots of their artistic practices. Here's a very fast, fleeting and drastically scaled-down preview of the book that doesn't really let you see anything but hopefully intrigues you enough to go see their work in person at the Grad Thesis Show next Wednesday. Go attend! They are all amazing and talented and it will be well worth your time.
