Thu 3rd Sep 2026 - My first Hard Techno set. First time standing behind the decks putting together a magical sound I had only ever heard from the dancefloor. When you see something from a distance – that something could be an abstract idea in your head or something literal like the peak of Mount Everest – it often feels like it’s so far away, you’ll never be able to reach it. This is what DJing felt like to me. To begin with, just the idea of DJing sat at the opposite end of the spectrum of everything I have ever permitted my very straight-jacketed adult self to consider. But then the idea became a dream & somehow I found the courage to make my dream a goal. That’s when the sherpas to help me summit my Everest arrived – in the form of a friend who wouldn’t let me second-guess my dream, in the form of a school that made learning fun not fearful, in the form of my teacher whom I can’t find words perfect-enough to describe, in the form of senior DJs so secure in their craft, they know pulling juniors up won't lower them from the heights they’re at. And suddenly, I had a village. These are the people I will always, loudly credit. But there is 1 person… whom I am silently very proud of. I sometimes watch her complain that the mountain is too high. I have sat with her when she’s too tired or too scared. I have held back the laughter that comes from watching her grumble while still putting one foot in front of the other. And I have held back the instinct to tell her it’s okay to stop when I see her reliving past trauma that made her give up all her musical instruments & closed the muscles in her throat. We have miles & miles to go but I am proud of all the baby steps taken. 🪩 - Ma Haiping @mahaiping is one of China‘s most respected techno producers based in Shanghai most notably known for being the first Chinese producer to release techno on a Detroit Label (on Jeff Mill’s Axis Records in ‘21 with Chang’e-4, an album inspired by China‘s historic mission to land on the far side of the Moon. His sound draws deep from Detroit’s blueprint: propulsive, hypnotic rhythms built around evolving loops and piercing percussion, charged with sci-fi atmosphere and a sense of movement through space. @yetiout launched its SS26 collection, “NO CODES,” at @j01shop in Tsim Sha Tsui with an evening that brought together clothing, sound, and culture in a way that felt completely natural to the brand. The collection is built around duality: clothes that can move from a sweaty dancefloor to a late dinner, from tracksuits and table service to button-downs and raves. The standout pieces included the black nylon track jacket with contrast piping and the reflective convertible tracksuit, both designed to shift depending on the light and setting. @qozello s live modular synth set gave the evening its own atmosphere, filling the space with evolving sounds that felt perfectly matched to the collection’s idea of having no fixed rules or presets. Alongside the clothing, @yetiout introduced the 925 zine and a new documentary series following the NO CODES cast — shot by @samwongphoto_, featuring @okoebombo. It felt less like a conventional product launch and more like an extension of the world Yeti Out has been building through music, parties, and community.
