Please join us for the opening reception of “World Builders,” an exhibition that asks what does smart technology overlook about the human experience?

The reception will take place on October 24 at 5pm in ArtsWestchester’s gallery (31 Mamaroneck Ave, White Plains).

“World Builders” brings together 15 artists who explore the expanding influence of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies on the body and human connection. Rather than treating technology as a distant force, they reveal it as something felt: a presence that touches, shapes and reimagines how we experience everyday life, both physically and emotionally.

Also on view: “Josué Morales Urbina | Pericón: A Cure for All Ailments,” the latest Janet Langsam Vault Project installation.

Exhibition dates: October 17- January 17

Come and join us this Saturday for the opening event of Compulsory Continuous Connectedness: rest in a networked world, a group exhibition led by a new commission and research from artists Caroline Sinders (@carolinesinders) and Romy Gad el Rab (@romy_gad) with work by Helen Cammock (@cammockhelen), Nina Davies (@influential_bro), Rebecca Moccia (@moccia_finora), Salvatore Vitale (@salvatorevitale_) and Qualeasha Wood (@qualeasha).

The exhibition explores the impact of networked media on our collective mental wellbeing, while also inviting visitors to consider whether the alternative to our networked world might not be to simply switch off, but to switch on a different kind of thinking, where rest is both resistance and replenishment.

What happens when the algorithm is frozen in time?

Our digital identities have become increasingly intertwined with our sense of self. In girl culture, aestheticization online revolves around an tireless cycle of reinvention and performance shaped by commodification. It begs the question: how much of this is truly the real me and how much is performative? Can we even tell the difference anymore?

The seemingly ceaseless, glowing, fast-paced algorithmic feed becomes muse. However, in these works, artists slow that pace, freezing the fleeting visual language of the internet on canvas. What’s revealed is a distinct aesthetic phenomenon that exposes the intricasies of digital consumption.

Featuring works by Julia de Rutier, Anu Jakobson, Elly Minagawa, Qualeasha Wood, Sophie Jackson, Emilytoots, Christine Tien Wang, Georgia Nielson, Stella Winter, and Wei Zhu.
