Rarely do I unequivocally praise a place. Let me tell you before you read this, @quan.vyda is a must visit Vietnamese restaurant if you’re in the area.

First, it’s packed. With Vietnamese people! This is a great sign. Second, it’s Hue or central Vietnamese cuisine. This is the heart of Vietnamese cuisine. Finally, it’s a family owned place that hasn’t opened up franchises or expanded. It just serves great home cooked meals since the late 90s.

I had their Bun Bo Hue Vy Da Dac Biet. Translate this a special beef noodle soup. Similar to pho but no vermicelli. Thicker wheat based noodles. Rich beef broth, ground pork shank, beef tendon strips, pork blood Cubes, pork meatball. I added their extra snails. About a dozen added deshelled. Large snails too. Comes with rau sing (garnish) of julienned cabbage, bean sprouts and a Vietnamese green I am unfamiliar with - it wasn’t Thai basil. The whole meal was a melange of texture and flavour. Every bite was delish.

Upon paying at the cashier, they had another sort of rare dessert: che dau van. Authentically made with Vietnamese hyacinth beans (Lablab purpureus) and tapioca starch. Coconut milk is added. It’s a gelatinous sticky sweet treat. Yummy!

Located in a strip mall complex with heavy traffic and hard to find parking. Servers are very friendly. Place is efficient. Decor is unpretentious.

I highly recommend.

Another Vietnamese spot. Got banh canh tom cua, vy da combo, banh beo, and com ga. Banh canh tom cua is a seafood based, thick broth with thick noodles and shrimp balls. The Vy Da combo is a good dish if you want to try a little of each of the different viet style dumplings/rice cakes they have. They are all filled with pork and/or minced shrimp. Banh beo are the little dishes of rice cake topped with ground shrimp and crispy pork skin chips. Com ga is their chicken rice with shredded chicken, ginger fish sauce and a side soup. All were delicious. Lots of local older viet people here when we went

My top 5 Bún Bò Huế spots in Little Saigon 🌶️
Full disclaimer — I’m team pho guy at heart. But I went deep on the local BBH scene so you don’t have to guess. 🍜

My criteria: broth strength, noodle texture, protein quality, and the herbs & veggies that came with it.

5️⃣ Ngu Binh
4️⃣ Bep Mi Nam Bun Bo
3️⃣ Ghien Bun Bo
2️⃣ Hue Oi
1️⃣ Quan Vy Da 🏆

Drop your go-to spots below 👇 and tell me — should I run the full Vietnamese noodle soup series? Bún Riêu, Banh Canh, Hủ Tiếu… we got a lot of ground to cover.
