SO MUCH FUN photographing this beauty. It was rushed, and late in the day, but she was a trooper and truly beautiful. Congratulations!

【Event】IHP Year End Party 年終師生聚會 -1
This year’s Year End Party was held at the International Center in the Medical Building 2. Looking back at the year through a recap video, 2023 was a challenging yet fruitful year. We organized two major events together—the 20th-anniversary Alumni Homecoming and the 2023 TICA CUP, marking a bountiful year. ✨

What made this year‘s celebration especially unique was the live preparation of activities such as calligraphy, couplets, and Lunar New Year-themed art installations, allowing everyone to experience the traditional and festive atmosphere of the Chinese New Year on the spot 🎏

Wishing everyone a successful academic and professional year ahead!

【Field Visit】Dihua Sewage Treatment Plant
Every year in Environmental Health class, we visit a facility and summarize our course. We are very grateful to Prof. Chang, Jung-Wei and Ji, Kai-Hsien for giving us the opportunity to visit a different place this year. This year, we visited the Dihua Sewage Treatment Plant (迪化汙水處理廠)near Dadaocheng.

Here’s some feedback of our first-year Master student, Lai, Chieh-I (Maria) from Taiwan 🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼

「Professor Chang and Professor Huang were very kind to take us to the Dihua Sewage Treatment Plant. As a Taiwanese citizen, I had never visited nor knew about the place, even though it is the largest secondary sewage treatment plant in Taiwan, completed and put into operation in 2006. Through the video, we got a glimpse of how they collect, process, and recycle sewage, and the staff led us around the whole plant to show us how they do it daily. The plant can treat up to 500,000 cubic meters of sewage per day. After its operation, the water quality of the Tamsui River has improved from severe pollution to moderate and light pollution. The Dihua Plant uses a double-layer sedimentation tank design, which is the first of its kind in Taiwan, and the deep tank staged aeration secondary biological treatment process. The whole sewage treatment adopts a semi-underground design concept, which prevents the odor of sewage treatment from overflowing. Additionally, there is a third-stage treatment water recycling and reuse equipment, which can be used for equipment use and toilet flushing water in the plant area after treatment, and can also provide water for planting outside the plant and civil planting, street flushing water, etc.
After the field trip, I have a clearer picture of the water recycling system and am proud of the government and the staff who work hard to make our nation sustainable.」

"You can talk with someone for years, everyday, and still, it won't mean as much as what you can have when you sit in front of someone, not saying a word, yet you feel that person with your heart, you feel like you have known the person for forever ... connections are made with the heart, not the tongue." ― C. JoyBell C.
