i’ve been reflecting on the Lazi Boi Album Release party @loosesealseverywhere and i am still in process. what i know is a lot of people have said some really amazing things about my show, my character, and my ability. i am, at all times, immensely grateful for these kindnesses.

Sunday morning, i had a final shoot and hang with the amazing photographer @bonestockjb (📸✅) and at one point we got to talking about the difference between courage and preparedness.

i wrote Lazi Boi courageously, against the odds, in spite of my better judgement - it’s a raw, honest tape.
i bravely pursued eventually sharing it.

then the album was talking longer than I thought it would, and I had to change my lifestyle, then more time passed, and I showed up for myself to stay safe and sane. that felt courageous too, stepping into the unknown for my own good.

the dust began to settle, my head was screwing back on, the mastered song files started coming in, the CDs were burned, booklets made, lyrics memorized, and wow, I am a totally different person. still me, but an upgraded version. I have tools, new insights, a clear understanding of how I want to live.

and I realized I don’t need courage anymore.
because I’m prepared. for this moment and many.
i didn’t have to be brave to share my art. I was ready.

all that change, all the help I sought, mistakes I made, lessons learned - it was all for this incredible, visceral. JOYOUS, unforgettable moment of celebration.

my people back on the east coast sent their love.
the community here on island uplifted me, supported the growth, showed out and up and said, “we got you.”

other than all those words, i have no words.
thank you to every single soul that made this album and it’s release party possible. I’m bursting at the seams with appreciation and awe.

What a magical, moving night. ✨

Huge thank you to Karen Finneyfrock for her witchy wit and spellbinding stage presence. We witnessed her divination with help from the cutest assistants and soul wrenching poetry that pulled at every tender thread, the evening felt truly transformed. We’re also deeply grateful for the emotional and delightful workshops she led, generous, grounding spaces that invited courage, craft, and connection.

Gratitude to our bold and brilliant opening poets for setting the tone with beautiful verses, your voices carried us into the enchanted evening.

Thank you to San Juan LTAC for supporting art that stirs the spirit and strengthens our creative community. And to every audience member who showed up and leaned into the magic, this night was luminous because of you. 💫
