Brugge!… I mean: Hamburg!

Years ago, we owned a copy of Brugge. We really liked the game, apart from a couple of little annoyances. That’s why we sold it. Since then, original Dutch copies got pretty pricey and rare and even worse: we were starting to miss it.

But luckily: it’s back! With worse art, a worse name and a complete lack of soul compared to Brugge. But they fixed a lot of our issues too. Because in Brugge, you had to draw random cards to fill your hand, whereas in Hamburg, you can choose the color you need. The game can be quite lucky as it is, but the random cards could make it an absolute nightmare.

Also, they included the expansions in this one box, which I really like. The card mechanic is still lacking a sense of control, which can make it frustrating at times. But this is the only thing that is holding the game back. Apart from that it’s absolutely fantastic. Therefore, I can forgive it’s flaws. I love it.

Have you played Brugge and/or Hamburg?

New week, new #fiveoftheshelf 🤩

This weeks theme: 🐞🐛 BUGS 🪲🪳 chosen by @nyalpha.official

We found we have quite some games with bugs in it, we choose these because they totally revolve about them!

🪲Insectarium by @kristenmott.boardgaming and @snowbrightstudio
A super cute game about bugs and butterflies, most wonderful glass stones to lay on the big cards. It’s a light but fun puzzeling game!

🪳 Ladybugs by @queengames_official
This one is a brainburner! You take the amount of steps on the bag of the ladybug of your color that is already on the board! So takes some real planning! Did you see the little sneakers on the bugs 😍

🐜 Jewelbox by @lovemoregames
This is a dice driven tile placement game, I really love the looks and the fun puzzle it offers! And the looks of the bug cards 🤩

🐞 Pollen by @allplayhq
This is also a tileplacement game, a real competitive one! With real lovely glass bug tokens to put in the middle of the tiles.

🐛 Bugs Buddy by @helvetiq_games
Our daughters favorite! Compete to loose all your cubes by placing bug tiles!

Seen anything you like? Didn’t know? Any tips for good other ‘Bug’ games?

Autumn is here in Fox Grove, and the whole woodland is getting ready for winter! 🍂🦊

Gather wood, nuts, and maple leaves, then put those resources to work building the most prosperous little village in the forest. Over four rounds, you’ll manage your hand, compete for the resources you need, and turn your hard-earned supplies into buildings, abilities, and Victory Points.

But don’t get too comfortable with your usual card-game strategy. Fox Grove puts its own twist on trick-taking, keeping every round fresh as you decide which cards to play, which resources to chase, and how to grow your village before winter arrives. 🌰🏡

With an Introductory Mode for newer players and plenty of strategic decisions for seasoned gamers, Fox Grove is ready to welcome everyone to the woods.

Gather resources, grow your village, and see who can build the coziest corner of the forest! 🍁

--- HERBSTSPIELE 2026 ---

Tatsächlich sind seit letztem Jahr nochmal einige Herbstspiele hinzugekommen 😇

🍄 WUSELIGE WIESEN 🍄
