It’s never easy to be an artist…

But being an artist in the 2020s is a particularly heinous uphill battle. The inner voices are real and they’re not always nice.

You’re invited to a live virtual screening of Kinsley Vs., a series about one writer’s battle with her anxious thoughts as they anthropomorphize into living, breathing characters and try to take her down with every word she writes.

After the screening, join Diliana Deltcheva (director of the upcoming film Please Stay, written by Taylor Lewis) and me to unpack the mental health realities of the creative process and have a conversation about the things we often feel all alone.

WHEN: Thursday June 4th, 5p PST / 8p EST

WHERE: Kinema

TIX: Free

RSVP // Limited Seats: link you know where!

‘Eric’ is back this week on @harlemonprime ! I LOVE when my theatre training gets to show itself on the tv screen! Returning to another musical in our final season was such a full circle moment! And to be reunited with our brilliant choreographer, @camilleabrown , and the music genius, @jasonmichaelwebb , is always a dream! Make sure you watch to see how “Girls Trip: The Musical” turns out….!

Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (2020) 🎶
Choreographed by Camille A. Brown, associate choreography by Catherine Foster, and directed by George C. Wolfe.

Camille A. Brown is a multifaceted choreographer and director who strives to empower “Black bodies to tell their story using their own language through movement and dialogue.” Her prolific work reclaims cultural narratives of African American identity, capturing deeply personal experiences to instill “curiosity and reflection” in diverse audiences.

Brown’s work can be seen on multiple mediums including Broadway, Television, Film, Opera, and within her own dance company “Camille A. Brown & Dancers.” In 2022, Brown made her Broadway directorial debut for the revival of “for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf.” This made her the first Black woman to direct and choreograph a Broadway play since Katherine Dunham in 1995. The production received 7 Tony nominations. Additional notable work includes Broadway’s “Choir Boy,” “Hell’s Kitchen,” & “Once On This Island” – as well as NBC’s “Jesus Christ Superstar Live” amongst many others. Her feature film debut as choreographer was for “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”.

Hit my bio to watch the doc, the movie and listen to the album.

What a ride. Thank you for your patience. I wish I was better. I wish I knew how to do the things I need to do, at a level to create the actual shit I want to make. But in time. Forgive the delay. I’m here.
