Arguably one of the best experiences of my life! I was 100% present and taking it all in. All the energy from the people around me, the runners, the spectators, the cannon blast on the bridge to start the race, the helicopters, the volunteers, the disabled runners that required guides, the elderly, the kids with their hands out looking for high fives from the runners, the people giving out candy, oranges, bananas, water bottles, Gatorade, food, beer, salt, bio freeze, massages, hugs, and so much more… the countless signs of encouragement, memes, “tap here for power”, I’m single, and support for the loved ones, the bands playing concerts, dj’s spinning tunes, the drummers, the marching bands, the smell of food and weed throughout the entire city changed in every New York City borough, the aid stations, the Gatorade & water stops with 1000’s of cups on the wet road to run thru that they had to literally rake off, the very narrow sections where the people were in the streets and we SO loud having a blast, the quiet sections on the bridges where you only heard foot steps and heavy breathing, the cameras documenting the entire race, all the fresh new kicks on the runners, the smiles, the tears, the cramping and runners that couldn’t make it to the end lying on the ground along the course, 26.2 miles of life, of people from all over the world running thru staten island, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan & the Bronx, all coming together, some 50,000+ runners strong surrounded by the most insane support and cheering squad one can ever imagine. All doing it for their own personal reasons. Some share it on their shoes, some on their arms to help them remember why, who and what they doing it for. It’s a gentle reminder for when things get tough to look at those messages. Everyones cause may be different but we all have our own reasons. For me, “I do it for those who can’t” in the memory of my late mother and for all those who are suffering. I choose to subject myself to difficult things, to continue to be just .01% better everyday and most of all have gratitude while doing it. #itwillmoveyou #nycmarathon #2023 #2023nycmarathon #nyroadrunners
