@billie0cean & @queerbarbie - PSYCHOPOMP

Billie Ocean’s seductive cyber afrofuturistic video and photo work blends millennial aesthetics, horror, fantasy, and asmr into unforeseen worlds to reveal beautifully mysterious truths that bite and soothe at the same time, pulling you inward towards the places you neglect. 🫀CASTING CALL🤖

Casting actors and movers for developmental workshop of the play-game “Project Quantum Heart,” a live immersive theatre experience written by Amy Grace Lam and directed by me. Workshop takes place this October through an artist residency at MilkBar in Richmond in the Bay Area. World premiere planned for spring/summer 2027 at a very exciting spot in the Bay. This project has been in the works for many years, and we are excited for this final development sprint before inviting the world into our world next year.

The play-game follows Dr. Emily Wong, a Chinese American music professor, who after being denied tenure and on the verge of a mental health breakdown, applies to be a video game designer. During the interview she is asked to play a game. The game has a life of its own, pulling Em into the game’s underworld where she must confront systemic erasure and inner conflict through surreal encounters with divine beings and creatures. Audience members play time travelers and spirit guides in Em’s journey of finding her true self.

Submit audition materials here by Aug 31: https://www.backstage.com/casting/project-quantum-heart-3211049/

Photo: Playwright Amy and dramaturg Laur, during our Oct 2024 workshop at Z Space, helping digital double of protagonist Em navigate her heart.

Otherwise - 😮‍💨 - how has everyone else been feeling lately?
I’ve been DEEP in the mode of working on an album I started to focus pretty much the moment I dropped my EP Smitten back in March. Thank you to everyone that’s been enjoying that 🖤 I’ll definitely be talking more about that now that I’m not drowning in work.. if anyone knows a good manager lmk

If you want to hear Smitten live (or the new album’s work) pull up to a show..

I’m still waiting for a moment to take a deep breath, I keep waiting for something *something* to happen… soon I hope 🖤

Forgive me while I post this novel, but swipe to read what I consider one of the best write ups I’ve ever received

Everything I do is a bit - eclectic, different expressions and facets of world building influenced by many different sources but the same potent energy. Sometimes I wonder if people really see my art in its totality — but this write up that @the.schuster did for @globaldisruptrecords affirms me that people do in fact, get it~

⭐️MY EP SMITTEN JUST DROPPED AND YOU CAN LISTEN TO IT LINKED IN MY BIO ~ 🖤 ~ thank you to @_xae_ @nuxia_nuxia Bella Hangnail , @damnthatshellacrazy @frannyyy.pack @amada who poured so much into the project

⭐️My next show is MARCH 27 for @ratskinrecords festival featuring so many dope and genre expanding underground artist (and some not so underground, but gems nonetheless)
Tickets are in my bio ~ 🎫

Also shout out to the epic Babylon show we did last year that where these photos are from - taken by @by.onome 📸
I couldn’t have made without my collaborators:
@h.e.l.i.x.h.a.l.o (co-producer)
@queerbarbie (styling)
@imli.ix (visual production)
@bagofcelery (production assist)
@tsark0shka (production assist)

And the dope featured artist & performers that were part of the night too: @tugboyzz @gabriele.mov @nyfe_ @billie0cean

I kinda wanna do that production again ~ if I can find the right venue I just might 🖤
.
.
Also, I did end up finding who I was looking for at KXSF and we connected and actually had an hour long radio show the day the project dropped! Played it all first on @kxsfradio 🖤
Sweet guys - thank you Bob!! It was so fun
