Did you know one of the most important sites in LGBTQ+ history is hidden in Silver Lake? These unassuming steps mark the place where the Mattachine Society was founded in 1950. At a time when LGBTQ+ people faced criminalization and discrimination, a small group of activists met here and began building what would become one of the earliest gay rights organizations in the country. Their efforts helped spark a movement whose impact can still be felt across Los Angeles today. Watch to learn the story behind this overlooked landmark. 4 YEARS AGO TODAY Performing at the Staples Center which is now the crypto.com arena for the magic minute at the sparks game. Was SUCH A THRILL to perform in front of thousands right before I left for my debut tour! I had some friends there cheering me on(including my @queerfieldday crew!), my mom there to see it happen and made some new fans in the process. Craziest part about this was my song choice hahaha it was super high for me to sing, but I wanted a feel good RnB vibe and I was so happy the crowd was singing along and knew it! Here’s to manifesting that I will play there again one day but singing an original
