As I move from the Summer Solstice toward the harvest portal, I want to give thanks. Getting to create is a privilege, & I’m endlessly grateful that this is the form my creativity gets to take. 🍷 Through vineyards, wine, remarkable people, and places I never imagined I’d see. The reason is two fold for me. ⁣ ⁣ 1.) The captivating WONDER of seasonality in the grape growing business. The best wines I make are grown, not made. Letting wonder drown out all the over stimulation we have day to day, helps me grow and make better wine. ⁣ Wonder is essential. ⁣ 2.) As soon as I feel I have mastered something, it is over for the year. Beginning again a few seasons from now, albeit with a slight twist, leaving me an eternal student. ⁣ ⁣ As children, each of us had a deep sense that the world is full of wonder. ⁣ Fireflies, the way the sun would light up the sky as it rose, how the stars would twinkle at night, left us with a sense of awe. ⁣ ⁣ This sense of wonder is what drives us as farmers and creatives. ⁣ ⁣ We believe that the earth is a wondrous place that deserves our respect and care. ⁣ ⁣ We feel that our work helps to bring people closer to the wonders of the world around us. New Release Introduction 🎙️⁣⁣⁣ 2019 Peter Martin Ray Santa Cruz Chardonnay ⁣ ——————————————————————————⁣⁣⁣ Enjoy a piece of California history in drinking this wine. This heritage clone of Chardonnay, called Mt. Eden, was brought to California from France in the late 1890's by Paul Masson after he took cuttings from his friend Louis Latour in Burgundy.⁣ ⁣ Appellation I Santa Cruz Mountains⁣ ⁣ Grower I Barclay Kamb, Rick Anzalone, Frederic Ballario⁣ ⁣ Vineyard I 2.7 Acres⁣ ⁣ Soil I Franciscan Shale⁣ ⁣ Clones I Heritage Mt. Eden⁣ ⁣ Vine age I 45 y/o⁣ ⁣ Farming I Dry Farmed Organic⁣ ⁣ Production I 80 Cases. 100% neutral oak barrels, native yeast fermentation. Aged 11 months in oak, then racked to stainless for the remainder of elevage.⁣ ⁣ Tasting Notes:⁣ ⁣ Lemon curd, salty air, meringue, sun kissed orchard fruits, beeswax and floral tones create an alluring nose.
