NYC: Innervisions

New York City contains multitudes in its rich and tumultuous history; it is infused with deep complexity. It is a city of hope, sorrow, resilience, and diversity; it is iconic, much like Oz, both real and a dream that resonates across boundaries and on a global scale.

It is a place rife with contradictions: wealth, poverty, safe enclaves, crime, culture, and a challenge to civic life on granular levels. Yet, for New Yorkers, the impulse that cuts across all lines is a will to strive and the desire to thrive.

Historically, New York is a city of immigrants who looked to the great lady holding a torch in the harbor as a chance for limitless opportunity. Culturally, New York City continues to be a North Star for those seeking expression in creativity and freedom of identity. The city’s diversity is undoubtedly its strength, despite the persistent fight for equity witnessed in the past and enduring to the present and mirrors socio-economic issues throughout the world.

New York IS the city of cities, and its ever-shifting narrative encompasses a broad swath; the city is an immense and embracing tent with room to hold a diversity of visions, perspectives, and singular points of view for creative spirits.

NYC: Innervisions shares perspectives of these New York City artists and honors this metropolis as an artistic inspiration and a place these creatives call home.
