It feels so crazy to think that so many people showed up for me that we were bigger than the backdrop🥺🥺🥺 when I tell you my God and my tribe remind me every day that I'm doing something right in this life❤️

I'm so grateful for everyone who took off work, traveled hours, across state lines even, to come support me at my @tedxqueensvillage talk last week. Seeing y'all's faces in the crowd grounded me so much I don't even think you understand😭

Y'all my EIGHTH GRADE TEACHER showed up, my best friends, my bridesmaids, my aunties, I'm legit getting teary eyed just writing this. I could never deserve the amount of favor and love God graces me with, yet it continues to flow. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK from the bottom of my heart❤️

Ps y'all my house has felt like a legit garden all week thanks to all the beautiful flowers y'all gave me I'm so grateful🙏🏽

📸 @versatilelens I'm so grateful for you capturing these moments💙

It’s been a little over a week since I left Houston, where I attended the National Black Law Students Association’s (@nblsa ) 56th Annual Convention. I have been experiencing post-convention depression and I had to take some time to reflect on what kind of experience convention was. I attended my first NBLSA convention last year in D.C., but this time it was different. I was an executive on the NBLSA 56 Board. For those that don’t know, NBLSA is the largest student-run nonprofit organization with over 6,000 members. The NBLSA 56 board has worked tirelessly all year to produce programming and resources for our NBLSA members, while also making preparations for our annual convention, which had over 850 attendees. This convention in Houston was like no other. The feeling of being in a space with so much love and black excellence was invigorating and surprising. As a biracial woman in law there are not many times I feel completely comfortable or accepted, but this was one of them. I got to support and see my fellow board members’ ideas come to life and to build on some relationships from when we all first met at the Joint Board Retreat last June in North Carolina. This term I served as the National Historian, and one big project I was tasked with was bringing back the NBLSA Legal Pad which was our very own legal magazine. It was exciting to see my project come to life, which I will talk more about in a later post.

I say all of that to say, if you are a black law student, please get involved with NBLSA. If you want to make some new family and life long friends, join the NBLSA board 👌🏽

If you have any questions regarding becoming a NBLSA executive please don’t hesitate to ask, they are recruiting now!
