Spring Sundae Flex Series - Belle Fourche is in the books!

When the forecast was calling for a high of 37 and 50% chance of snow, I wasn’t expecting much of a turnout. But man-oh-man, we demolished my hopeful 40 player count - with 72 (!!) total players coming out to brave the cold and throw some plastic!

The stoke and growth of the Black Hills disc golf community is for real! It makes the 13+ hour TD days worth it.

I’d like to give a huge thank you to the City of Belle Fourche for all the work they did cleaning up the course and prepping everything for our event! People were raving about the course all day! And I’d like to give a thank you to all those that helped with the event (James, Theo, Taegen, Billy), and to our event sponsors (Black Hills Vinyl, ML_Dyes, FlighTowel, Honeyseed) for making it all possible!

As a player - I shot rather poorly and even missed my own island 🤣 (don’t worry I made the C2 putt to save par). But overall I had a lot fun - it was a great time with my card (Jordan, Dan, Stephen and Jimmy) - thanks for letting me hop on guys!

Next up is the Spring Sundae Flex Series - LaCroix event - with an ace pot that has somehow grown over $500 😱

Now that I’ve had plenty of time to reflect, I’m so proud of The Crushmore. Directing this tournament was a much larger undertaking than I initially realized and I poured a lot of time and effort into it. I believe it turned out really well and people seemed to have a fantastic time playing both of the best courses in the Black Hills. Thank you to everyone that helped make the Black Hills Vinyl Tour finale great!

Whether it be prepping the courses (Colton, Tommy, Eric, Q, Peter, Trevor), manning tourney central (Mariah), supporting not only the tour - but the entire local community (Breezy, Jen, BHV), or being the best damn right-hand man a TD could possibly ask for (Theo) - The Crushmore took a community to make it what it was. Thank you all!

And a huge, huge thank you to our sponsors! Player pack sponsors (Prodigy Disc, FlighTowel, Whalesac), CTP Sponsors (Miner Brewing, Lost Cabin) and Hole Sponsors (Engage Consulting, Honeyseed, Wolffs Plumbing & Heating, Mt. Rushmore Area Association of Realtors, HVAC Elements, Quik Signs) gave us the opportunity to do something awesome with The Crushmore - please support those that supported us!

P.S. during round 1 at Pageant Hill I shot my first 1000-rated round! Accomplished yet another 2022 goal 😁😎

June was a busy month! I was able to participate in 5 sanctioned events across three different states.

1️⃣ Majestic Amateur Championships (B-Tier) at Blue Ribbon Pines. This course is gorgeous. I had a roller coaster first round with 2 double bogies, 7 bogies, and a whopping 10 birdies. I struggled to hit my lines (didn’t struggle to hit trees though), but my putting stroke was feeling good and made up the difference. Then in round 2, the putting stroke wasn’t there and I shot way over par. I finished in 31st.

2️⃣ The Majestic (A-Tier) at Blue Ribbon Pines. Holy moley, what a great event and one that I plan to attend every year. I had a horrendous first round, hitting trees and adding strokes. But I was able to rebound in the second round (even with some unfortunate breaks) to shoot under par. I finished in 93rd, but had a blast and got to play with some cool dudes (including @cal_lonnquist_dg).

3️⃣ High Plains Challenge (A-Tier) in Fort Morgan, CO. @hurricaneharrigan always puts on a fantastic event! I shot decent at Optimist in the first round. Then at Pessimist in round 2 I got on a roll. I was 4 down going into the final hole (I could almost taste my first 1000-rated round), but I proceeded to botch an upshot on the 18th hole and stupidly tried the water carry from too far back - which resulted in a triple bogey. Still shot over my rating, but 😩 hard lesson learned. The third round was tough, I just mentally couldn’t get in the zone and lost all putting confidence. A big thanks to my travel companions (@wells_dg and @ms_amyvrana)! Definitely plan on attending HPC again!

High Plains Challenge! This is my second A tier of the year and the farthest event from home. Three days of 90+ degree weather made for some very long rounds. My game felt very solid off the tee. However, I am still trying to figure out how to fix my putt. Round two I missed a 15ft putt for eagle and it was downhill from there 🙃. Overall still an amazing weekend with the rapid crew @ms_amyvrana @qvolve @jakeservaty and I already want to come back for the 2023 HPC! Big thanks to @hurricaneharrigan and his crew for another flawless event! Hope to see you next year! #blackhillsvinyl #discraftdiscgolf #discraftunderground #discgolflife #discgolfeveryday #roadtrip

Started the 2022 season off with a bang! Played 4 rounds of golf in Fort Collins Colorado for the Colorado disc golf hall of fame event at the Ultra disc golf park. Day one was Am day where I was able to average 1021 and finish first for the event! My highest rounds thus far! Day two was Pro day and the weather was not ideal, I ended up finishing in a tie for 12th averaging 981.

Shout out to Kyle Harrigan for running an awesome event and being on my card for the Am day in round 2. Looking forward to coming back next year.

Next stop is the 303 Open May 5th, Fort Collins Colorado!

ACE!! My first of the year!

On Saturday I participated in the January Pyrohyzer (@pyrohyzer) National Ace Weekend, and aced hole 7 (237’) at Jackson Park with an Innova (@innovadiscs) star Thunderbird forehand hyzer. It was a windy day, and initially out of my hand I didn’t like the flight, but lo and behold - it found the center of the chains and stuck! My -9 for the round, tied the hot round of the day as well!

Thank you @qvolve for coordinating the Black Hills area Pyrohyzer events!
