PRODUCER OF MUSIC📍NYC

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

my entire creative practice these days revolves around the psychic development of a piece. Who touches it. What consciousness mingles with it as its created. Does curating who interacts and how affect its delivery to the world?
In each city where I bring “from the perspective of earth” I invite local musicians to come make sound with these pieces. No rehearsals or plans. Just trust that we will find eachother through listening.
This clip is from the Brooklyn gathering, where the musicians who helped develop the recording of “from the perspective of earth” joined me. What you are hearing is not a written piece of music. We just tuned in, listened and shared.

Join us at an IRL gathering to add your consciousness to the mix. Limited spots available. #newmusic #livemusic #soundmedicine

FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF EARTH is a wordless genreless expression of the planets by me @isaac_levien @jackbroza @aaron.edgcomb @erikadohi @nathan.reising @qweenjd

@monicafelix picked up where we left off, expressing the sounds as light with her gorgeous projections.

This music is only available in real life at an active listening event. Last night was our first gathering in NYC.

The people who listen to music alter its life even more than its creators. We are curating this piece’s psychic development very intentionally.

When I tell you the souls that mingled with these sounds last night brought their a game, I’m not hyperbolizing

Under the rising full moon as the stormy winds picked up, we connected with the planets together. Thank you to each of you that gave these sounds new life and making them yours.

If you want to leave your psychic mark on the piece, join us in LA San Diego or Chicago. Until then, happy full moon. Happy storm🌕

I’m no longer part of After Arts, but despite breaking with that organization, many friendships I made there persist. One of the great gifts of participating was meeting @its.evading, who has become a dear friend. She’s not only a flaming-hot flutist but also someone with major aspirations and the ability to inspire others. I remember talking to her about how difficult it is to make it in the arts, suggesting a patron structure for her @koeduo with Emma Kato, and she came back with, “I’m going to start an orchestra!”

@OrchestraQnyc is her brainchild: a troupe of awesome young musicians of her generation who come together to put on interesting multidisciplinary shows in Queens, where she lives. She noted that there was a dearth of classical ensembles compared to Manhattan and Brooklyn. I made it to their debut concert at a nightclub but missed the last two, so I was relieved to make it to the one this past Sunday.

This time the concert was in an art space, @sculpturecenter. In the large open space, we opened with some music provided by @djaball. The ensemble was composed of three violinists, two violists, two cellists, and a string bass, as well as Eva on flute and sax, an oboist, a French horn, a trumpet, and a keyboard.

If I understand correctly, the music for the evening was orchestrated by @qweenjd, who not only has the chops to arrange tracks of music but has the musical knowledge to reconstruct familiar tunes from Beethoven, Bach, and Stravinsky, and even the Bruch Violin Concerto, a beloved piece that almost every advanced violinist learns as they grow up. Shaleah, in particular, just ripped it, but it was fun to see all three violinists exchanging riffs from the concerto.

The evening was complemented by the amazing moves of two dancers, @fabricioseraphin and the gorgeous @vvviictoriiaaa.

As Eva said, this is not your mom’s Sunday afternoon orchestra concert!

Bravo!
