Equestrian dreams don’t come cheap.

My daughter is a junior rider with big goals, but like many equestrians, we don’t come from wealth. So she’s finding her own ways to make it happen.

Between show grooming, pet sitting, working student hours, a part-time job at a tack store, and finishing her senior year, she’s working hard to create more opportunities for herself in the sport she loves.

The road might look different for everyone, but you don’t have to come from money to start working toward your dreams.

Still on Cloud 1,000 from the 3ft Derby Finals with Louie where we got 9th overall . 🤍 🐲🦄. I truly had the best time ever, achieving goals , dreams coming true , setting new goals for future derbies ,competing under the lights, watching and cheering on other competitors and doing those handy turns. I truly felt like I was flying over every single jump! 🐴✨

I can’t thank @schsaofficial , @summerhousefarmllc, and @chadmahaffey enough for making my first 3ft Derby one for the books and to @equineclicksphotography for taking these stunning photos of us . Here’s to many derby memories ahead! 🤍

Toki man, I am truly at a loss for words to say how incredible you are! Last week you jumped your first “A” ranking qualifier class of your life at 1.55m and jumped clear! The heart you have is unreal and each time we step in the ring and I know you will give me 110%. After several potentially career ending injuries/surgeries, I’m always amazed how much you love to compete and return to the top of the sport time and time again! First you broke your pelvis in 3 places in July 2021, and returned back to 4* competition! Then you lost vision in your right eye in April 2023, which we tried to save until we ultimately took out the right eye in December 2024. Then you came right back to 5* FEI competition the winter of 2025. Just this year in January 2026, you had to have colic surgery at the age of 20, and I honestly had no idea how you would come back after 3 months of no work. Once again you told us all that you still wanted to show and travel the world with the rest of your brothers. Continuing your 5* career with clear rounds at our very first Spruce Meadows this summer and jumping great all fall! This past week you jumped clear in the MLSJ 5* 1.55m Qualifier class to be in the top 12 as well as double clear in the 1.50m Winning round to finish 5th!

Kenobi took second in his first pleasure/hunter walk trot class! He if definitely more of a jumper type so trotting around the ring smooth calm and collected was definitely a big ask but I was so impressed with how well he relaxed and flowed into his toes. Just look at him!!!! 🤩 another shoutout to my beautiful, strong and amazing boy who never left my side the whole show and left my boots shinning and my smile big. I love you ❤️

Tatum and Piper went to try to qualify for Washington International.

This is the first year they have pony jumpers, which is so exciting! We had a great few days of beautiful show grounds and fun courses.

Tatum and Piper had to qualify in a jumper table IV, which is optimum time, and completely different than the jumper table II 2.b at WIHS. Tatum rode good tracks, kept her fast pony quiet, but was still too fast. We couldn’t have asked anything more of her or Piper.

Thank you @eringilmorephotos for capturing Tatum and Piper perfectly for her first time in the Grand Prix ring at Salem Show grounds. She’s been dreaming of being in that ring since she was 6 ❤️

Monster Mash 2026 🎃👻

Only my 2nd show with Cosmo and we ended the weekend champion in the low children’s! So many thanks to @graysequine for an amazing weekend! Can’t wait for what’s next with the best horse 🤍🦄

Our newest adventure looks a little different from our usual ones. Mackenzie recently joined IEA (Interscholastic Equestrian Association) and this weekend she competed in her very first show in Walk/Trot.

She drew a horse she had never ridden before. No weeks of practicing together. No knowing exactly how that horse would respond. Just a few moments to connect, communicate and figure each other out. Then she was judged on her position, her control, and how well she rode a horse she’d just met.

She came home with 3rd place. 🥉
But honestly, the placing is only part of the story. I love that this sport is teaching her something that has shown up in so many of our adventures: you don’t always get to control the circumstances. You learn to read the situation, adapt, stay calm and make the most of what you’ve been given.

New horse. New experience. First show.
Not a bad way to start. ❤️

Everyone sees the ride. But there’s a whole lot that happens before they enter the arena.

Walking Louie to the main arena. Getting settled. Straightening the reins. A little nose scratch. And then… it’s warm up time before the actual ride.

Kenzie is still new to competitive horseback riding, so I love watching her learn that showing isn’t just about what happens in the ring. It’s the preparation, the connection with the horse and learning to stay calm when it’s time to perform.

She’s finding her groove one IEA horse show at a time. Thank you @saddleridgeridingcenterinc and @themeantrainer🐴🤍
