Bordeaux and Pop Art are now available!
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
SPIEL Essen is almost here, so it’s time for the final six games in our series! We’ve already shared 18 games that have caught our eye, but there was still room for seafaring exploration, old-fashioned pharmacies, potato-powered town building, fiery Catalan festivals, winemaking — and one chaotic night of tapas. Here are our final six games to look out for at SPIEL Essen 2026… 🔥 ⛵ UNCHARTED PASSAGE: REMASTERED This might be one of the less obvious games on our list, which is exactly why we want to seek it out. Uncharted Passage: Remastered is a compact 1–2 player exploration game in which you have just 12 rounds — representing one year — to chart routes around the world and complete as many missions as possible. Each month brings different events and threats, while your limited resources have to be divided between sailing speed, crew stamina and armament. We really like the sound of that constant balancing act: travel quickly, keep your crew functioning or make sure you’re prepared when pirates turn up. At around 30–40 minutes, this feels like exactly the sort of smaller game we love discovering amongst the huge Essen releases. It will be available at the Playte booth in Hall 6. ⚗️ TINCTURA Running an 18th/19th-century pharmacy is already an unusual enough theme to get our attention, but it’s the way Tinctura handles time that really intrigues us. Behind your screen you secretly plan how you’ll spend the hours of each day — working in the pharmacy, heading into town or venturing into the forest — before deciding how best to use those precious hours when the moment arrives. You’ll gather medicinal plants, make treatments, improve your skills and train apprentices while trying to squeeze as much as possible out of every day. We love games where time itself feels like a resource, so this sounds like it could produce some deliciously difficult efficiency decisions. 🥔 YOTEI Build a town beneath Mt Yotei, manage your limited workers and bid with potatoes. Frankly, they had us at potatoes. Set at the foot of Mt Yotei in Hokkaido, Yotei has you expanding your land, developing a charming town and deciding how best to use your limited workforce — while potato

Do not open… that door… Don’t go… in there…. Well I tried to warn you 👻 In Don’t Go In There, you are playing as a group of kids that have decided to go exploring in a haunted house. Turns out the house is full of ghosts and curses! All you can hope for at this point, is to try to have the least amount of curses by the time you leave the haunted house. We had a spooky games day with @stoneheart_games today, and I thought it Don’t Go In There by @r2igames was the perfect game for today’s #boardtober Day 17 theme of “Do not open” by @getintogames Would you ever be willing to go explore a “haunted” house? #boardtober2026 #dontgointhere #boardgames dice

POP ART 🎨 (1-8 players, 8+) 🇳🇱⤵️ Our rating: 9,5🥇 @r2igames 📝 Game instructions: In Pop Art, you take on the role of an artist from the 1960s. You’ll be putting together your own gallery and trying to create the most beautiful and valuable works of art. All players receive 3 foreground and background cards. Each player builds their own gallery consisting of a 3x3 grid of cards. The foreground cards are transparent and come in different colours. By placing a foreground card over a background card, the colours blend to create a new work of art. On your turn, you choose a combination of two cards from your hand: one foreground and one background. You combine these and place them in your gallery. You then pass the remaining cards to the next player and receive new cards. The combinations you make are important, as not only the colours but also the images on your cards can earn you points. By cleverly layering cards on top of one another, you aim to create specific colour combinations and achieve certain objectives. Each player tries to fill their own 3x3 gallery in this way. You must not only consider what you need yourself, but also which cards you pass on. Sometimes you pass a card on reluctantly because you know another player might be very happy to receive it. Once all the galleries are complete, the points are tallied. The artist with the most points wins and can call themselves the new Pop Art sensation! ⭐ Our review: We particularly enjoy Pop Art because of its original use of transparent cards. Layering the cards on top of one another and seeing which colours and combinations emerge makes the game not only strategic but also very visually appealing. You always have several options and need to think carefully about which combination best suits your gallery. A creative card game that also looks stunning on the table! Thanks to the large number of cards, no two games are ever the same. A game takes about 10–15 minutes to play. We’re also really taken with the 1960s theme! And the use of the game box for scoring in a two-player game is a brilliant idea! (Gifted review copy) #popart #r2igames #bordspellen #kaartspel #familiespel
