🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Glasgow, Scotland: Refugee Voices🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity by @geotracfoundation to go on this awe-inspiring trip to Glasgow. Each day, we heard from refugees and other speakers, and then explored areas of the city which reflected the themes touched on in the morning. I met so many incredible people—not just the refugees we heard from, but also the leaders guiding us and the peers we found community in. I saw many of the best sights Glasgow had to offer, but also its very human side, as shown through the resilient stories of the refugees, who are some of the most kindhearted people I have ever met. Every day was non-stop and truly pushed the limits of my comfort zone, but this trip has left me with so much to ponder and many new friendships.

“ Dance with the difficulties “ - Tasneem

An experience I would choose over and over again if I had the chance. There truly aren’t enough words to describe the lessons I learned, the stories I was trusted to hear, or the tears we shared. This week changed me in ways I never expected, and I know I’ll never be the same person I was before it. You don’t truly realize how privileged you are until you’re faced with the reality of what life looks like for so many others. Please take the time to educate yourself. We are incredibly fortunate to have the freedom and opportunity to do so. Pay attention to what’s happening beyond your backyard, Silence and ignorance have never changed the world.

To my built-in friend group, thank you for showing me that there are people who will love you exactly as you are, without ever expecting you to change. Thank you for every laugh, every conversation, every hug, and every memory. The bond we created is one I’ll carry with me forever, and each of you changed my life more than you’ll ever know. I love you all more than words can say. 🤍

This is the ending to a huge chapter full of memories, but just the beginning of the next. Thank you to everyone who celebrated with me, supported me, and helped me become the person I am today. I’m forever grateful! 💐
