i’m not a sentimental person, but my graduation day was unequivocally the happiest day of my life. over 60 of the most wonderful people from every stage of my life traveled from across the country - NYC, DC, LA, Tennessee, Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit - to support me at the conclusion of my law school journey.

people say law school is hard and horrible and depressing. it’s true. but not for the reasons you think. law school is challenging because it will try to take everything you love. it will try to force you to become hard and unfeeling and adversarial. it will tell you to choose logic and rules over emotions and humanity. it will tell you that time spent studying is more valuable than time spent on holidays, hobbies, life milestones, your loved ones. if you let it, law school will rob you of your joy, your freedom, and your sanity.

when elle woods’s dad said “law school is for people who are boring and ugly and serious” he ain’t never lied. but he was a bit off. law school ✨makes✨ people boring and ugly and serious. but you don’t have to let it do so. those of you who knew me in law school know that my priorities have always been what brings me joy. and there is nothing that brings me more joy these people right here. i’m proud of myself for completing law school, but what i’m more proud of is finishing this degree with my identity, relationships, integrity, and spirit in tact.

one of my favorite quotes is “the greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.” i feel so overwhelmingly grateful, lucky, and special to get to experience loving these amazing people every day of my life. it’s is more rewarding than the new two letters after my last name could ever be. thank you to every person who celebrated me throughout the month of may. my party may have been bridgerton themed, but it was all of YOU who made me feel like the diamond of the season.
