Jedi Retreat Reflections ✨

I remember preparing to leave for the hospital for my c-section and my Halaqat teacher at that time Anse Amena asked our class to recite Surah Yasin for me. I felt held. I was held by women from all over the world. A memory that has sketched its way into my heart.

I remember the Ramadan I found out about Baba’s spina bifida myelomeningocele I asked Anse Tamara to include me in the list of hundreds of duas during Ramadan. I remember her expression as she read my dua. My heart can never forget.

Every time I message Anse Afshan to seek advice or ask for assistance she responds in .30 seconds. I don’t know how she manages but she’s my real life goals. Allahuma Barik. How many times has she held me virtually before she actually held me physically in person this weekend.

Anse Emmanuelle is my Haitian Tante. I don’t know if I adopted her first or if she adopted me first. But she has watched over me for years now. She and her wonderful daughter were some of my first inspirations to embark on my journey with Rabata.

Whenever I was struggling academically or spiritually Anse Maha would remind me that everything will be ok. That hardship comes in waves and that a believing woman will face difficulties over and over again. And she will conquer it.

Anse Tamara held us so many times this weekend. She led us in ibadat for hours at a time, taught us classes back to back, put us on a silence fast, but she had a warmth about her the entire time. She grounded us over and over again 🫂. And I am grateful to her and the team @yashkammoun @amnakhassan @raniya_alfreid_yimam and the entire crew for being welcoming and creating a space that I could dig deeper with women I love and aspire to be a reflection of. Alhamdulillah‘Ala kulli Hal. 💜✨

Being held accountable in ibadat is the most extraordinary feeling. In worship with your teachers, mentors, and sisters. May Allah accept it from us.

In company with women who actually care. 🫂💜✨

Anse Leila taught me how creative we can be in loving our Prophet SAW. Grateful for the moments I’ll be in tears while she described her love for the Prophet SAW.

This is your sign to read Istikhara, say Bismillah and follow your dreams.

I have been getting so many messages on how children loved my book and I cannot be more grateful to Allah SWT for fulfilling my dream.

Was it easy? Of course not! Only Allah and I know the tears, the duas, the frustrations (and the money lost) before this book was published.

All I can say is if you are waiting for a sign, then you have to take the first step and trust in Allah and keep working and you never know when and how it will come true!
