✨️ 18-19 JULY 2026 ✨️
For the second year in a row, I'm late to the party 😂 But I think I've finally come down (a bit) from Middle Child Theatre's third and biggest instalment of FRESH INK yet. What a special weekend!

From having my first piece performed last year, to being commissioned to go back this year has been a big dream come true and I'm so excited to see the journey this play goes on next 😍

'Kayfabe Babe' is a really special piece to me. Set in the bonkers, larger-than-life world of pro-wrestling, it's also just funny Northern people doing their best to get by in modern Britain. As a lifelong wrestling fan, I feel so lucky that I got to geek out to my passion in my first ever commission as a playwright and in my hometown. Doesn't get more full circle really, does it? ⭕️

To everybody who watched and text, emailed and verbalised lovely feedback on 'Kayfabe Babe', THANK YOU! It always feels surreal to hear, and each and every "I loved it" and "What happens next?!" means the world 🤍

I want to say the biggest thank you to @middlechildhull for their belief, generosity and unwavering support. No words do justice, they really don't 🥰

Weddings your way 💜

Cosmic vibes was the brief and as if by magic the self sown cornflowers had hybridised and there was a dark cornflower with flecks of blue that added beautifully to the campanula, sweet peas, sweet Williams and roses.

This was a beautiful wedding filled with love, joy, so many gorgeous kids, crafts and homespun magic. With the precision of a team of creative producers behind it!

Well... Friday was emotional 🥹💐🙏🎭

Last Friday, I finally premiered 'BALLGAMES' to an audience for the very first time aside a work-in-progress in the opening performance of Hull Truck's GROW Festival... I'm still riding the high. I'm still processing all the feelings. But mainly, I'm still in disbelief at how lucky I feel to have had an amazing audience filling up the house - thank you all for the beautiful feedback 🥹

What started off as a little idea in my head and no idea how to get there, became nearly a year working on getting this play to where it is, which has genuinely been one of the biggest pleasures of my career to date (even if it did stress me out no end 😂), and I can't wait to go on the rest of this crazy 'BALLGAMES' journey.

Firstly, thank you to everybody who came to see the show and for the incomprehensible feedback. Every gorgeous word, comment, message, email... it all truly means the world to me 🤍

On a personal note, some very special thank yous:

Firstly, to the incomparable Cerys Burke who answered a DM one day asking if she could help me get my project out of my messy wee head and into a tangible idea and bid. A one of a kind Access Support Worker 💐

Secondly, to Nathaniel J Hall, who helped draw this story out of me in a beautiful and nurturing way, and instilling a confidence in me that I can move forward with in making solo work 🌈

Thirdly, to Matt of Middle Child for his unique eye and insight on making 'BALLGAMES' as audience-ready as it could be for last week ✨️

And of course, to Rabs, who directed me over 4 days and brought my vision to life with humour, passion and, at times, necessary doses of tough love 🥰 Blimmin' love ya!

Also to my nearest and dearest (you know who you are), thank you for the constant check-ins, encouragement and love, especially when I've not felt capable of the challenge of spending 75 minutes alone onstage. You are my rock and I loves ya 💙

I will always cherish this last year of discovering 'BALLGAMES' and can't wait for what's next with it... Because this isn't game, set and match. Really, this is just the starting whistle 🤪🏀⚽️

Event suitable for all abilities. Just bring your enthusiasm to sketch have fun and make art.

Recommended Age is suitable for grown ups.

There will be an informal introduction where I will talk about my two art works on display @humberstreetgallery

You can view the artworks in your own time.

I have limited materials and pens for a socially engaged art activity with urban sketching.

10 qty black ink pens
4 aty clipboards
Plenty of A4 paper to provide.

As it’s a free event, bring along your own trusted sketch pads and materials.

2pm - 4pm the event will involve exploring parts of Humber Street.

Theres no obligation to stay for the entire event.

2025 has been the hardest year of my life. The grief of losing not only my dad, but the person I was before he died, has been excruciating and exhausting. I have spent every day weighed down by it.

Thankfully some days now feel a little lighter than others.

Usually around this time I would share a quick recap of the highlights of my year. For 2025, I want to acknowledge some of the people, places, experiences and more that have helped me survive. Here's hoping I can move into thriving for 2026 💖

Middle Child Theatre presented FRESH INK, the 2nd ever instalment of this bold, brave, unique new writing festival

Am I late to the party? Yeah, probs a bit. But truthfully, I still haven't processed what a special and exciting weekend it was. The best weekend of my year! Two weeks on and I'm still getting messages about my piece, 'Hear Lies...' and I am so grateful for and overwhelmed by each and every one of them, as well as all of the super lovely thoughts and comments it got over that weekend, not to mention people piping up to tell me about it cropping up in other chats here, there and everywhere, so thank you so, so, soooo much. It means the world 🥹🤍 Massive congratulations to ALL the writers, performers, directors and creatives for pulling off such an inspiring and important weekend for our struggling industry, making space for it to thrive in my hometown of Hull 💙

On a personal note...

Thank you @middlechildhull for the immeasurable support and allowing me this crucial opportunity to develop through your Writers Group. With @freshinkhull, you once again proved that when it comes to the arts and culture in the north, you are nothing short of the benchmark.

'Hear Lies...' was directed by the incomparable, creative powerhouse that is @rachaelclareabbey. Thank you for showing the piece such care, warmth and humour. I was so lucky to have you 🥰

Cast-wise, I had an absolute DREAM of a cast in @sophieclay91 and @kate.kay.31 who realised the characters and world I wanted to create so beautifully and sensitively with such detail, emotion and fun. I lost count of how often I told you but I genuinely couldn't have cast it better if I tried. You were both breath-taking 🙏❤️

Also a big thank you to all of my loved ones that turned out (over a very wet weekend 🌧) to come and support too.

So... the question is: "What Now?"

Well... I'm delighted to share there is big, exciting news coming over the next couple of weeks. Watch this space..... 🤪 Eek!

Leicester Comedy Festival Awards 2025. Probably would have helped if I'd shown up earlier so I could actually speak to everyone I wanted to but I got trapped in a stairwell in my hotel.

Escaped in time to make myself look presentable and put on a dress with a thigh high split so @tejdhutiacomedy could yell "get the leg out" at me throughout the night.

Surprisingly, not a single person got struck down by lightning inside or outside the cathedral the ceremony was in.

Lovely to see @alexparishylton and @comedystoreplayers receive recognition. My only disappointment was not getting to hear more from the Voice of God aka @martinsengland

Thank you @deanwilson2595 and @rachaelclareabbey for a brilliant LGBTQ+ poetry event hosted by @curiosityhull at the Avenues Library. Here is Dean showing off his latest purchase - a £3 charity shop miniature table which, as it turns out, is an ingenious place to pop his books during a gig (also the legs come off for easy transportation!) 👌🏼👌🏼
