Having a bunny is great, however I highly recommend doing your research and understand that bunnies are a lot of work! Make sure you are committed 💯 to their care and wellbeing. #rabbitsofinstagram #bunnyrabbit #rabbit #rabbits #cuteanimals

Billy is my 3-year-old rescue rabbit. In 2024, when Billy was about 6 month old, I found out he was being sold as a meat rabbit. I impulsively brought him home that same day because the thought of a meat rabbit broke my heart so much. Ever since, I have been trying to give him the best life ever. I barely knew anything about rabbits on that day that I brought him home, and he has taught me so much ever since.

This week, Billy suddenly became unable to walk normally. He can still move his legs and has sensation, but he falls when he tries to stand or hop.

Emergency X-rays showed serious congenital abnormalities throughout his spine that may be compressing his spinal cord and nerves. Because the condition is congenital, pet insurance won’t cover it, and he now needs specialized neurological care.

His emergency visit was about $2,000, and the CT/MRI he needs next is expected to cost around $3,000 just for imaging. After that, we’ll know whether he needs medication, rehab, surgery, or other treatment.

Billy is still eating, alert, moving his legs, and has sensation, so I want to give him every reasonable chance to recover. He may have a good prognosis with the right treatment. I also have six figures in student loan debt, so financing this level of care is a major obstacle.

Billy has brought me so much comfort and has become so loved through Billy’s Big World. If you can donate or share his fundraiser, it would mean so much to us. Even a small donation helps us get closer to giving Billy the specialized care he needs. 🤍

EDIT- link in the bio and caption to help in effort efforts to get Billy to walk again!! please re post as much as you can

This Saturday, 10/10, we’re giving 10% of sales to @rabbitadvocates, an all-volunteer Portland nonprofit that rescues, fosters and finds forever homes for bunnies across PDX and Vancouver. 💚
So your lunch fuels you AND funds bunny vet care. Everybody wins. Especially the bunnies.
Our pick for the day: Emma’s Detox 🥗 Spinach, arugula, pickled onions, beets, cabbage, sunflower seeds, carrots, radish, avocado + garden ranch. Vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free. Bunny-approved energy. (Fun fact from Rabbit Advocates: real buns want hay, not carrots. Leave the carrots to us.) 🥕
Woman-owned. Portland local. The freshest ingredients, built to order on N Williams and SE Division.
Eat good. Feel good. Do good.

Behind the scenes of another fabulous photoshoot. Violet and Jacques did separate photos from Hawthotn (scroll to see Hawthorn!) since they are not bonded (yet?).
*
Proceeds from the photoshoot were donated to @rabbitadvocates and we enjoyed shopping at @aliceinbunderlandshop while the lovely and talented photographer @stephjcastillo did her thing.
*
All three bunnies were exceptionally well behaved, and all three seem to love being held by Stephanie… Who is apparently a true bunny magnet.
.
Thank you very much to Stephanie, Kimberly/Alice in Bunderland, and Rabbit Advocates for making this event happen again.
*
Jacques and Violet have now had every season except spring photographed during these events. But Halloween is, of course, our favorite. Perhaps Hawthorn will have to partake in a winter and summer sessions to catch up with Jacques and Violet? Little Thorny seemed to enjoy being photographed…they all did. But Stephanie really has a wonderful energy/presence that I’m sure made everything go smoothly. Please check out her Instagram @stephjcastillo and follow her because she also photographs professional sports teams (we LOVE you @timbersfc!) and countless other events!
*
This November, Jacques and Violet turn six which apparently makes them “senior bunnies” but Jacques said he still thinks he’s cute enough to make the annual Rabbit Advocates calendar. Dream big, buddy! We believe in you.

Candy is adoptable! 💝 He’s a high-energy bun who loves interacting with people and is passionate about food. Candy loves being petted almost more than he loves being fed. He will run up for pets anytime someone passes by and once you start, he won’t want you to stop! His unique black and white markings and helicopter ears give him so much personality. You have to meet him to experience his wild charm!

The cutest bunnies at Cannon Beach right outside of the @stephanieinn 😍🐰🌊

Years ago someone dumbed their domestic bunnies in the area and as bunnies do, they have continued to reproduce!🙈 They’re considered feral domestic bunnies and were super friendly and used to humans! You can help support them finding homes by checking out @cannonbeachbunnies ❤️
