Proud to have helped bring together this panel for Blue Earth Summit this Wednesday, drawing on connections made through my years working in music.

Who’s Listening? Culture, Community and Environmental Action

Music and culture bring people together and build trust. How can we build on those relationships to support environmental action? And what could become possible if trusted community organisations were properly invested in and resourced?

We’ll explore whose voices are heard, who gets to shape the conversation, and how Black and Caribbean communities can play a greater role in shaping environmental agendas.

A huge thank you to Ben Ryan (City Splash), Ammo Talwar (Punch Records / KOKO Foundation) and Dr Aleema Gray (House of Dread), with Professor Mykaell Riley guiding the discussion.

Really looking forward to this conversation. Come and join us!

Founded in London in 1979 by Mikey Dread & Jah T, Channel One have been a huge part of Notting Hill Carnival’s sound system culture.

43 years deep at Carnival, bringing Roots & Dub to Leamington Road Villas and creating a space where generations of people can come together.

NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL 2025 @nhcarnivalldn —

Some behind the scenes candid shots taken at @zion_station_festival last weekend.

2 days of driving there. 5 or so hours to set up, including a potential issue with a humming cable during set up that delayed us for a while. 3 hour warm up set by Channel One family - Creation Rebel and Henry Skeng, followed by a 5.5 hour Dj Set. Following that when everyone else is heading to bed, the crew are there packing up the sound for the next few hours, finished by 7am. And then after a days rest it’s 2 days drive back home, where we unpack the sound system and eventually head home. A lot of intensive work, but worth it 🇮🇹 ❤️💛💚

Unloading the boxes in the midday Italian sun! 🔥

Building the sound..

Mikey Dread and Jah T checking the wiring

Sirens

The crew on the road.. Henry, Dariusz, Paul, Mikey and Tudor

Tracy from Jah Observer with Jah T

Mafia (Mafia and Fluxy, Rachel and Jah T)

Rachel and Miky, promoter from Italy. Worked together for 15 plus years, but first time meeting face to face!

Jah Observer meets Channel One. Lovely catch up ❤️

5 people travelling by van, Jah T, Ras Sherby and Rachel enjoyed the comforts of Ryan Air 😊🤪. Jah T and Ras Sherby taking the opportunity to have a little spruce up and a spray of scent in Duty Free ❤️

New merch launched at Zion Station. Realised quickly the spelling mistake of Nuevo, and corrected to Nuovo.. apologies to the Italian and Spanish speakers!

Throw back to a very hot day at the Azteca when Mikey and I had a tour round the stadium. One of the perks of travelling is to see a bit of each country and their culture. This was a highlight! Relevant today following the football game last night!

Hopefully back to Mexico next year! Vamos! 🇲🇽

Brazil was a game changer!!! ❤️🇧🇷

A week with @channelonesoundsystem in Salvador representing the Notting Hill Carnival spirit… but also just living it — the people, the music everywhere, the energy in the streets.

Working with @baianasystem, playing @ministeriopublico.ba, then on to São Paulo with Raoni at @reunion_of_dub. Different places, same feeling — sound system connects people instantly, wherever you are.

It’s not always the easiest job, and a lot happens behind the scenes, but moments like this remind me why I’ve stuck with it for so long.

Very grateful for the journey and the people it brings into my life ❤️

Give thanks @baianasystem for the incredible experience on your Trio Electrico at the Salvador Carnaval last night. It was mind blowing!

Awesome to see the President of Brazil enjoying the vibes (6th slide). 💚💚 🇧🇷

Thanks also to @nhcarnivalldn for the invitation and to @brbritish for enabling this partnership. An amazing and inspiring week.
