Today’s Beckham Lecture at BYU turned into the sweetest mini reunion! It was so fun to have several of my former students and former colleagues come to@meet with my current students. It was fantastic to catch up with them.

Days like today remind me how lucky I am to have worked alongside and learned from so many incredible people. I love these people tremendously and feel so blessed that our paths have crossed and that they’ve walked a part of the pathway of my life. They’ve made a difference in my life, and I’m grateful for the memories, friendships and continued connections.

My heart is full after such a great day! @rachelravsten Rachel don’t be late next time so we can get a photo!

39/50 ✅ No. 39 of 50 at 50 - Attend General Conference in Person.

I have lived in Utah my entire life and somehow had NEVER attended General Conference in person. I finally checked this one off my list this weekend!

Saturday morning, Trent and I got to sit on the front row of the second section on the floor of the Conference Center. One of the cameras partially blocked my view but I didn’t care. I was there! We heard such incredible messages from Elder Gong, Sister Runia, Elder Caussé, Elder Soares, and President D. Todd Christofferson.

I also ran into one of my former students and good friend, Rachel, who is now working for Church Newsroom. It was fun to see her doing what she does so well!

Then on Sunday, my sister Vanessa, brother-in-law Ryan, niece Kaisha, and nephew Jace, Trent and I attended the closing session together. It was their first time attending in person, too! We sat in the terrace section and had a great view of the speakers at the podium. We heard wonderful messages from Elder Uchtdorf, Sister Spannaus, Elder Bednar, Elder Stevenson, Elder Gilbert, and President Dallin H. Oaks.

It was super cool to be at the opening and closing sessions at the conference. It was also very special to be in the room listening to the words of prophets and apostles and hearing the Tabernacle Choir sing. On Saturday my dress even matched that of the women in the choir… completely coincidental! I left both sessions feeling uplifted and strengthened.

Yesterday was the last class day of the semester, and today we wrapped everything up in lab. I’m feeling equal parts relief, sadness, gratitude and a little bit of “how did it go so fast?”

I’m so thankful for the incredible students I get to learn from and with every day. Their curiosity, creativity, and drive makes all the chaos of a semester completely worth it. They keep things interesting, keep me on my toes, and remind me why I love what I do.

I am also thankful for the faculty and professional staff I get to work with. I am grateful for the teamwork, camaraderie, and the laughs along the way.

This is always a bittersweet time of year. I’m super sad to see the seniors graduate, but I’m so excited to see all the amazing things they will do in the world. After I’ve had some time to decompress I know I will look forward to fall semester when the students who are returning come back.
