This isn’t just a Charlotte Airbnb. It’s a fully operating, income-producing short-term rental business… and it could be yours.

🏡Private indoor Finnish sauna
🏡Gel-fueled cast iron fireplace
🏡Outdoor wood-fired brick oven
🏡4 bed 3 bath • No HOA • Furnished
🏡Windsor Park • 10 min to Uptown Charlotte

We’re based overseas so we’re ready to pass the keys and the business to the right buyer. Turnkey. No guesswork. Just results from day one.

Comment “details” and I’ll DM them to you.

When I started traveling overseas I had no idea what I was doing…

❌ Lugging huge suitcases over cobblestones streets with wheels flying off

❌ Wearing all the wrong clothing

❌ And still forgetting something

I created these guidebooks because I saw a gap. Traditional guidebooks had too much noise and not enough functionality. Journals gave too little direction.

So I made mine to be interactive with tools like packing lists and budget trackers along with local guidance and reflection space.

So you can learn to travel better.

Travwell believes in acknowledging reality in the world instead of pretending it doesn’t exist. Not to solve every issue, or for performative awareness.

Conscious travel means showing up:
informed • respectful • human

Not neutral at the cost of others.

So many Americans struggle when they travel and need a vacation after their vacation, this could be why.

That’s why every one of our guides has a culture page.

The ultimate travel hack? Having the quintessentials for traveling well.

I’m Rachel, founder of Travwell, and I’m an American living in Hoi An, Vietnam. It’s a UNESCO world heritage creative city and I think it has the makings for a blue zone.

I know firsthand how frustrating traveling can be when working a full time job. There’s never enough time to plan the way you want, keep it all organized, avoid booking overly touristic things, and offload your work to someone before you leave for vacation.

Travwell is expanding beyond pocket planners to trusted and vetted experiences, and small retreats with a focus on play, mindset, and culture. The great news is no matter what level of traveling well you’re looking for, we have a match for you in our home city of Hoi An, Vietnam.

📚 Guidebooks give you an intentional framework for 50+ locations

🪡 Curated local essentials are trusted Hoi An must-dos you can pre-book

🏓 Signature retreats are mindset experiences hosted in Hoi An

Do you feel like you’re getting the chance to travel well?

This photo shows the kind of travel you cannot buy. A small bowl, a plastic stool, and a moment of real life shared with strangers. 👇

From our new Travwell @substack which is about how travel is at its best when it connects us. To ourselves. To the land beneath our feet. To the people who welcome us in. Follow along for intentionality and a traveling well mindset. 👇

A Thanksgiving reflection on why real travel gives you an edge that money can’t buy

Travel is more accessible than our culture makes it seem, and paradoxically, those who aren’t wealthy often have an advantage the wealthy accidentally spend their money protecting themselves from.

Thanksgiving has a way of reminding us…

Here are the details so the list I gave you makes more sense ⬇️

Here’s why I have an opinion on how to clean Airbnbs (plus hotels, home stays, restaurants, and any business with a public bathroom):

🔬 I’ve stayed in Airbnbs for 13 years, traveling globally to 31 countries
🔬 I have Superhost status in the United States
🔬 I offer my Hoi An home as a sublet when I’m out of town

I’ve formed a global perspective on cleanliness in short term rental stays, and many guests visiting Vietnam will have those expectations too. Don’t lose out on repeat customers because of these issues anymore. ⬇️

🧼 Sink drain: pull out the drain stopper and check for gunk each and every time, sewage smells can come up the pipes so even better if you put pieces of a bar of soap in the drain trap to prevent flies and odors. Run hot water down the sink to clean it out. Make sure to shine the top of the drain stopper
🧼 Wet counters: don’t spray countertops because water gets in toothbrush holders and toiletry organizers and stays wet, forming bacteria and mold. Everything needs to be wiped dry after it’s sanitized
🧼 Toilet grout: most are cemented, which absorbs dirt and moisture so it really needs a silicone waterproof caulking around it in order to properly keep it clean long term
🧼 Shower tile grout: it can get grimy easily so using a toothbrush to get in the cracks helps, it needs to be unkept so the cracks don’t show dirt
🧼 Shower drain: clean it out each and every time just like with the sink drain
🧼 Shower head: it gets buildup from the water so it needs checking and cleaning as needed, it will actually improve the water pressure when kept clean
🧼 Wet shower: squeegee the shower dry after cleaning so mold and mildew don’t form and so it doesn’t feel sticky and humid when guests get there
🧼 Bidet: the sprayer needs checking and cleaning just like the shower head

I’ve noticed so many people send pitches as an Airbnb booking request and here’s what that looks like on the host end first:

👎 Excitement about another booking, then an immediately let down when realizing it’s not
👎 Rushing to respond to a message that isn’t customer related (Airbnb tracks host response times and it affects your Superhost status and visibility)
👎 Hosts can report you for spam and it can prevent you from booking Airbnbs in the future

Those things are big problems for hosts, who jump quickly to respond to Airbnb notifications for real, paying-customer needs. Using the platform for pitching creates an immediate negative perception before they even get to see your value proposition.

What I’ve learned is:

💭 Taking the time to find their associated social media or email can shift the immediate reaction to a more positive one (think more “oooh someone wants to collaborate, cool” rather than “ugh what a waste of time”)
💭 Communicating outside of Airbnb takes extra time but an email can come across as more professional and a social media DM as more casual and efficient
💭 You’ve added an extra layer of complication to the pitching process because hosts are very limited in their communication with you on platform and are restricted from leading you off platform

Let’s chat more about this:

💬 Did any of these surprise you?
💬 Can you see how communicating this way adds barriers to getting a “yes” to your pitch?
💬 What has your experience been?

“He” being a work colleague, more specifically ⬇️

An ultra high net worth banker… 🙄

Ya know, so many people ask why I’m ex-corporate and especially why I left the U.S. for Vietnam. I don’t have a precise answer but this reel hopefully starts to piece together a story for you… (Plus see the other reel I linked)

So, he saw my away message and asked how my time off was, which was the only reason I was talking about it

He asked what I did in Guatemala, so I told him

And it felt like a total setup because then he was telling me he would never go THERE

U.S. Americans, you know what that means… a place where there’s cRiMe and it’s sCaRy 🫣

And he would definitely never hike a volcano. He made it sound like I’m so bizarre. Before I could ask him his ideal vacation others joined and we had to get the meeting started.

So much to unpack here!!! I’m so glad I’m not surrounded by people like him anymore because my life is peaceful, slow, and creative now. I don’t feel like people care about me much in Vietnam but still somehow feel part of a community.

Have you ever felt like this? What would you say to him if you could?
