Lil Candy Paint, born Kevin Jenkins in Chicago and raised in Atlanta, is more than just an underground artist — he’s an underground icon. From the earliest days of the underground vs. mainstream split, Candy was right there, not just rapping but laying bricks in the foundation. Since stepping onto the scene in 2016 and beginning to catch serious momentum in 2017 — with one of the first underground WorldStarHipHop videos — Candy has embodied what it means to be original, vulnerable, and revolutionary in sound.

With a name as unique as his style, Candy became instantly recognizable — whether through his bold hair colors, eclectic drip, or the fearless energy he brought to every track. He was often seen alongside fellow underground legend Duwap Kaine, and together, they pushed the boundaries of what it meant to be an artist in the underground. They didn’t just break rules — they rewrote them, turning individuality into influence and helping solidify the underground scene as a powerful creative force.

Lil Candy Paint was also one of the first artists in the underground to get a No Jumper interview — a huge deal at the time — showing that being raw, real, and independent could still earn you a spotlight. And even now, years later, his music continues to carry that same authentic energy. For me personally, his music has been a lifeline. More than an artist, Candy has felt like a therapist… even a superhero. He gave me advice and support through his music, even when he was going through his own battles

“Jumping off the ship” represents JaMiiyen’s perspective — a vision of artists at the pivotal moment of choosing individuality over conformity. The ship symbolizes the crowded, often artificial space where many creators reside, lost in trends and expectations. But the ones JaMiiyen sees — the ones who jump — are those brave enough to seek their true selves.

They leap toward G4P, a symbolic island and safe haven for raw, unfiltered talent. It’s not just a destination, but a collective: a home for artists with real potential, authenticity, and the courage to be original. They’re not chasing fame — they’re chasing truth, purpose, and artistic freedom.

What they need isn’t fixing — just love, support, and a platform to shine. And JaMiiyen is building that platform, one soul at a time.
