Founded in 2015, @radicalnetworks is an annual conference that promotes artistic, grassroots activist, and experimental work in telecommunications, including the internet and world wide web. As a summit for investigators and instigators from all disciplines, the event facilitates the open exchange of ideas and collaborations, centering marginalised and underrepresented communities.

Their mission is to have the public critically engage with the communications tools and networks they use and participate in every day, while gaining access to the knowledge needed to create tools and alternative infrastructures for community, experimentation, and dissent.

A couple months ago, I had the chance to present for the first time during the festival @radicalnetworks my installation (no)control.
Considering the web as a free space where our private life can still be preserved often implies forgetting the strong implications and conflicts linked to the data we generate while we browse and which build our digital identity. (no)control tries to unveil the mechanisms of control and their asymmetry on the web by physically embodying them. This installation tries to illustrate how data based companies process, control and manipulate our data without our consent, awareness or involvement over time.

Shoutout to @cyber.doula for the music discovery 🌿
