Embracing the Horizon is the third track from my Dust 4 album, and was written to accompany this beautiful drone footage from @radium_field. In their own right, Pylons aren’t particularly attractive, but there’s something geometrically appealing about seeing a line of them striding across a huge flat landscape.#pianotronica #dronefootage

Another section from Gathering Dust, from my Dust 4 album / film on Curious Music. Link in Bio.

After a period of heavy rain, this path runs between two flooded fens and the river. It’s a very strange place to walk, as it stretches off the distance with huge reflections of the sky.

We’re all used to seeing ourselves in mirrors, but it’s only on video that you discover what your walking gait looks like. Mine changed during filming. At this point, I was moving between loping and sauntering.

Gathering Dust is one of my favourite tracks from the Dust 4 album on @curiousmusicia #pianotronica #ambient #. I love Dion Johnson’s footage of the train over the flooded fens, giving me a chance to see the world from a new angle. Even if it was unnerving seeing the drone fly away into the distance.

Dust 4, my first full album for Curious Music is available on Bandcamp, all streaming services and as a 60 minus video on YouTube. This was my favourite filming location - the road floods completely several times a year, becoming beautifully apocalyptic. Dion Johnson’s drone footage capture it beautifully. Links in Bio.

Curious Music is pleased to announce Dust 4, a new step in @marblecalm Peter Chilvers' evolving instrumental series. Informed by nearly two decades creating experimental musical software with @brianeno, Chilvers seamlessly collages piano improvisation and electronica into an immersive landscape.

The 60-minute album is out now alongside a Dolby Atmos mix (available via Apple Music and TIDAL) and a 60-minute companion film, created in 4K resolution to match the album’s immersive scale, available now on Curious Music’s YouTube channel.

The Dust 4 companion film is a collaboration with filmmaker @radium_field Dion Johnson, whose work spans international broadcast, documentary, and experimental visual production. Johnson constructs a contemplative, slow-shifting visual field that reflects the evolving nature of the music — spacious, elemental, and structurally unbound. Created in parallel with the album, the film exists not as illustration, but as an aligned spatial response — part of an ongoing environment.

Thrilled to be releasing Dust 4, my first full album on Curious Music today, along with a 60 minute atmospheric film by Dion Johnson. Dion’s beautiful drone footage perfectly captures the huge, sparse landscape the inspired the album.

Curious Music is very pleased to announce the album Dust 4, a new step in Peter Chilvers’ evolving instrumental series. Informed by nearly two decades creating experimental musical software with Brian Eno, Chilvers seamlessly collages piano improvisation and electronica into an immersive landscape.

Gathering Dust, a 17-minute film featuring Chilvers discussing the Dust series is available now and is released alongside “The Unbroken Sky,” the first excerpt from Dust 4. The film blends Peter's reflections on Dust 4 and extended passages from the new work.

Dust 4 will be released digitally on August 15, 2025, alongside a Dolby Atmos mix (available via Apple Music and TIDAL) and a 60-minute companion film, created in 4K resolution to match the album’s immersive scale, premiering on Curious Music’s YouTube channel.

The Dust 4 companion film is a collaboration with filmmaker Dion Johnson, whose work spans international broadcast, documentary, and experimental visual production. Johnson constructs a contemplative, slow-shifting visual field that reflects the evolving nature of the music — spacious, elemental, and structurally unbound. Created in parallel with the album, the film exists not as illustration, but as an aligned spatial response — part of an ongoing environment.

On September 12th, Curious Music will also issue the first physical editions in the Dust series: 10” vinyl EPs of Dust 1, Dust 2, and Dust 3 in a limited edition (of 300), available individually or bundled. These beautifully crafted, landmark releases feature artwork by Italian multimedia artist Petulia Mattioli, whose collaborations include work with Alva Noto, Fennesz, Harold Budd, and Toshinori Kondo. Her visual language merges photographic abstraction with elemental texture — a fitting complement to the sound world of Dust.

Pressed on Sea Blue, Green, and Coke Bottle Green vinyl, the EPs will be available individually or as a bundled set. In contrast to the spatial openness of the Dolby Atmos mixes, the vinyl format introduces a new analogue dimension to the Dust series — one of tactility, focus, and warmth — adding depth to the way these works can be experienced and inhabited.

Our new EP ‘Spark’ is out today in digital format and available to stream across major platforms including Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon. Search for ‘Shadowlight’ and ‘Spark.’

Four original tracks, as well as a cover version of A-Ha’s ‘Sun always Shines on T.V’ reproduced with all permissions, this EP represents a nod to the current resurgence in electronica, whilst holding true to the classic Shadowlight sound. Playing here is a snippet from the track ‘Drive’ - so get streaming and be sure to like and share! #progrock #synthpop #shadowlight #aha #coverversion #cover #newmusic #britishmusic

A rather different studio setup, for the final viewing of the now-finished film/series I have been working on for the last 6 years. With only a few tweaks needed to the 5.1 mix, it feels amazing to finally bring this hugely controversial, difficult and important project to an end.

It was amazing to show our work to a select group of individuals who have all had involvement with the project at some point in its timeline and to show them what all of our hard work has resulted in.

It will soon be time for the truth to come out!!

Had the absolute pleasure of attending an exclusive preview screening of @capel_green today in a studio in Suffolk, with the creator Dion M. Johnson @radium_field and some of the amazing production team.

It’s been a surreal moment — I composed some of the music and soundscape for the film seven years ago, and to finally see it on screen, fully realised after all this time, was incredibly exciting .

Capel Green tells the story of Larry Warren and his experience during the Rendlesham Forest UFO incident — one of the most compelling and controversial encounters in UK history. Dionne’s direction brings a powerful and human perspective to a story that’s been buried and debated for decades.

Huge thanks to everyone who’s worked so hard to bring this to life — it’s been a long road, and I’m honoured to have played a small part in the journey.
