To give @discoverjoris max time for his first longer run (17-18km I think), he drove to the start whilst I drove to the finish. I got to the finish maybe 15mins before he got to the start, then started up winding until we linked up somewhere on the run. Pretty fun way to skip a part of the shuttle (if you don't mind a bit less downwind foiling if you're the upwinder guy). I also wanted to be able to go back and change gear to test some set ups before upwind up to Joris too, so it was handy to be near my van at the start of my session. Picking up Joris' van was part of the way home so kind of efficient! Grabbed my 3/2 wetsuit instead of my 5/4 with some chilly east winds. The @gulwatersports Viper is pretty warm as it is, but with 8 deg air temps I wore my @vaikobi Vcold hooded Lycra as a base layer since it's fleece lined which helped to keep the body warm! Might do this more often (with the 5/4 for when it's not quite cold enough for the 6/4 hooded but I want a bit more warmth without the hood). I always wear @surfears but now it's getting colder it's essential! Upwinded about 35-40mins (toes and fingers got a bit cold) before downwinding for about 20mins in some lovely lake bumps! It's been blowing lots in the Netherlands the last few weeks - stoked that autumn is here! Thats a wrap on @crozonfoilfestival 2026! My 4th year racing here and the first time I've done all disciplines - stoked to take 11th on the overall ranking! I really love coming back here for the variety of conditions we get on the downwind front and doing all the disciplines this year added to the challenge. Prone: same as in Kernow, as a non surfer I really enjoyed being out of my depth. The challenge of having to score points in a 15min window was a lot harder than I anticipated (I already found this out at Kernow) and I didn't make it past the 2nd round. But I wasn't the lowest score so that's a win, and I have a baseline to work on. Super inspired and motivated after watching the top guys through the contest. The 890X was my foil of choice here (and in Kernow) though I'm really keen to get on the 810X more (used it a lot free surfing outwith the comp 😅) Downwind: Two super fun races with technical conditions finishing 30th and 26th (27th overall). I played it safe on race 1 with the 741R2 with the unknown of how backwashy the finish would be (very) and for day 2 with lighter wind and ground swell opposing us I stuck to the same foil and it was spot on. Dockstart: trusty old 980S took me 2 rounds to dial in after a decent dock start hiatus on smaller foils (thank god for repechage rounds) but once I had it I got through another two rounds taking me into the quarter finals unexpectedly where I came 3rd just missing out on a spot in the semis. Excited to test this one 🥳 4’2 x 17.5 25 litres and 1900grams gripped! This is identical to my previous prone making it perfect for comparison for plate vs radix. I now have 2 boards with the radix connection and so far the benefits are far more than I was ever expecting!!! If you see me in the water, ask to have a rip 🤙

Wind came in so we swapped the surfboard / prone board for wing and parawing set ups. Pretty fun bumps before the wind really started to nuke - 3.7m parawing was on the large side! Freddie held down a 4m and got some pretty nice rides in, the DW froth is growing! Later in the day we went to check out a different spot but it wasn't as nice as this morning's sessions. So many options around Crozon! Oh man, how good is foiling?! Autumn is well and truly here. The last couple weeks have been windy but with still pretty warm conditions. Love this time of the year! Timed this session to still have the west south west wind swell with west north west wind and current heading north. Almost managed a 1:1 upwind / downwind ratio foiling the residual swell to the north and with the current elevator.
