Happy #indieanimationday! We are Pelea Animation, a studio dedicated to using #animation to advocate for our communities in Latin America facing imperialist violence and environmental destruction.

We are releasing the teaser + financing campaign for our debut film #Pelea, later this year! We are also hosting several in-person events for New York Climate Week in September where we will be screening the teaser and hosting panels with artists & activist. Lastly, we are getting ready to launch our merch store!

A lot of exciting things are happening as we get ready for the #Pelea launch, follow us to stay tuned!

“Pelea” is a 2D animated short film that also serves as a proof of concept for a feature film ⛰️🪶🐸🍄.

The film is set in “Vivencia”, a fictional South American nation based on the tricolor countries: Colombia 🇨🇴, Venezuela 🇻🇪 , and Ecuador 🇪🇨. The film follows Daya Rojas, a young woman caught between power and resistance. When her mother, President Elvia Maria Rojas, vows to protect Indigenous lands from extraction, the CIA stages a coup that turns Daya’s life and the whole nation of Vivencia upside down.

Blending steampunk aesthetics with themes of imperialism, land defense, and resilience, Pelea echoes real-world struggles against colonization and environmental destruction. Inspired by movements led by land defenders, the film honors their courage while amplifying stories too often overlooked.

We are releasing a teaser and fundraiser for the short this fall, stay tuned!

In the meantime, you can support our studio on Kofi: https://ko-fi.com/peleaanimation
