Before there was Triple Threat, there was a simple realization: Too many young people were growing up without the opportunities, support, and relationships they deserved. In 2007, Caleb and Julie Luper decided to do something about it. What started as a desire to create opportunities for youth has grown into something far bigger than anyone could have imagined. But while the reach has expanded, the heartbeat has remained the same… People helping people. Passion turned into purpose. Relationships that change lives. Yesterday’s Tomorrow finally opened and it is an absolute privilege to share it with you. I am overjoyed by the wonderful response to the paintings and it was a pleasure meeting many of you and spending the evening with some of my best friends and family. I will always make artwork, but the support of my family, friends, gallerists, and collectors always puts extra wind in my sails. As always, to the unknown!

Before it gets too late: If you didn't already know, last Saturday was opening night at @hivegallery and I was apart of not one, but two art shows & I sold my first piece of artwork there. I don't have all the words to express how grateful I am to write that. My Apo Whang Od portrait was a personal project I did for my 2nd anniversary at @bixbyknollstattoo while I was still apprenticing. I had just started drawing a few months prior, so it wasn't made with the intention of being sold. It was made for me to look at everyday above my station & remind myself of where I wanted to be one day: living long enough to be an old, tattooed asian lady who continues to tattoo thru her lifetime (if you're asian, you understand the stigma). I am happy knowing that someone came in, looked at it, and put a deposit down before the show opened because they wanted to take her home. I don't come from a background where art is valued highly, so the idea someone would pay good money "for a drawing" means a lot to me. I want to say thank you to @radixrisingcreative for inviting me to be apart of Whimsical Fury 12 and @hivegallery @kingbeeme for hosting my artworks & allowing me to be apart of this wonderful experience. Thank you to my mentor & strongest anchor @butchtattoos for supporting me throughout the years and providing a space for me at @bixbyknollstattoo . It was not an easy road, but "if I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulder of giants". Where I lacked faith in myself, your faith in me never waived. To my parents who came out to see me, it matters the most to be able to have them there. More than 10 years ago, my last achievement was something academic related and the last time I carried a sketchbook. Things are entirely different now, nothing like I could have dreamed of back then. I am proud to say I have parents whose love for me is bigger than their ways of life. I used to be upset that things didn't come so freely, but I appreciate the mountains they moved to be by my side. If you see this post, you've most likely have gotten tattooed by me. Every single one of you also led me to this moment whether by chance or by fate. Thank you.
