Sara joined Mélange this season in Love Letters of WWII portraying a new story from the Library of Congress archives - the wife of service man Aben Caplan, Sophie. She portrayed the moment where she received the letter that no family member wanted to receive - that her husband had been injured and captured, with no known whereabouts - with such authenticity and grace. Her performance was truly magnetic. We hope you enjoyed your special day! 🥰 📸 @yodertime Love Letters of WWII portrays an epic love story that persisted during a tumultuous time that shaped the world, when brave men and women rose against fascism in the name of human dignity and justice. Through dance theatre and live, original music by Sarah Quintana, we bring to life the love letters between Yvette and Roger, a young French couple separated in the German occupation of France. Interwoven in this moving courtship are powerful war stories of resilience, including courageous French female resistants and their collaboration with Louisiana’s “Frenchies”, whose knowledge of French was instrumental to the Allied victory. Discover the dazzle and comfort of the stage door canteen, arduous frontline experiences of nurses and soldiers, an undercover Jewish dancer whose performances aided the resistance, Black serviceman James Killion Jr.’s fight for double victory, & more. “Love is all around”, Roger writes to Yvette, as inspiring stories unite in a moral imperative that overshadows fear, guiding future generations. Love Letters of World War II brings to life the universal love letters that kept “the greatest generation” alive. To Marseille with Love 💌 On September 10, 2026, we will present Love Letters of WWII at the Library of Congress Coolidge Auditorium as part of their Veterans’ History Project. We are honored to represent New Orleans talent on a national stage and share poignant stories that will be preserved forever in the Library of Congress archives, making history as their first recorded Louisiana-born dance theatre piece 💌🌟 Love Letters of WWII portrays an epic love story that persisted during a tumultuous time that shaped the world, when brave men and women rose against fascism in the name of human dignity and justice. Lemoine Recital 2026. A recital we will cherish and never forget. Rosalina got to dance and that’s thanks to a supportive healthcare team and encouraging community. March 19. The day we received her initial diagnosis, CANCER. My girl just wants to dance. She lives for dance. And my first thought was my dancer is going to lose her leg, and I thought oh my God am I going to lose my baby. Your world stops and nothing else matters and I just stopped breathing. Fast forward to a biopsy of the bone, more labs and body scans then I can count, bone marrow biopsy and a diagnosis of Ewings Sarcoma localized right fibula. Our team at Our Lady of the Lake has been amazing and our community has poured love and prayers over us. But the big question was can she dance. Can she? Will she get? Will she get sick? Will she have complications, stress on her heart, stress on her body, blood counts, oxygen levels… so much went into letting her get on that stage for 4 minutes. That’s it. 2 dances. 4 minutes of stage time for her body to feel whole again and her heart feel full. For an audience of people to witness Gods hand holding her up and letting her dance. Letting her feel like she’s just 7 and not fighting for her life. Not feeling like we are living in a hospital and hating how the chemo makes her body feel. Just a kid getting to dance on a stage. Thank you to everyone loving on my kiddos this extra specially difficult weekend. And everyday before and to come. Not only for Rosalina but for Giovanna to get up there and shine at her first company recital!! We are so proud of our girls. So to all the mamas pinning buns and applying lashes and lips. They get to dance. They get to show up every week to practice and move their bodies to music and learn so much more than just how to dance. And a reminder that recitals are just a product of our kids discipline, hard work, and dedication. Praise them and hug them and tell them it was beautiful. Because all my girl wants to do is dance. @lemoineacademyofdance is a family and I can never thank @lisagarner5678 enough for letting my girl dance and her amazing teaching staff.

Making Space Vol III: The Surrealist Dream Meet Lauren Guynes 💫 Lauren is a dancer, choreographer, and educator originally from Terry, MS. She holds a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography from the University of Southern MS. As an absolute lover of performance, she has appeared in many works with the Marigny Opera Ballet, Hub Dance Collective, with fellow choreographers throughout the Gulf Coast region, and multiple film works choreographed by Maya Taylor. She has created and presented her own work with the Marigny Opera Ballet, Making Space NOLA, Coast Dance Fest, Electric Entertainment, Disney, and in collaborative projects with local musicians and film makers. For Lauren, every opportunity to explore artistry through movement is held near and dear to her heart. Lauren premieres her new work, Demo Derby, October 3rd & 4th at Toulouse Theatre.
