A moment for some cute pictures of the crew. Did any of us imagine that we were going to be able tomake sailing our jobs when we were kids? Probably not. Are we happy that we get to share our love for sailing with others every day? ABSOLUTELY.

In 2011, Scarano Boatbuilding built Schooner America2.0 as a tribute to the original Schooner America that sailed and won the One Hundred Sovereign Cup Race in 1851. During that famous race, the Schooner America came from behind and won with “flying colors”. While watching the race, Queen Victoria inquired to the standings and the response gave us the famous quote: “Your Majesty, there is no second.”
The One Hundred Sovereign Cup Race was later renamed The Americas Cup Race after the original winning boat.

On Sunday we raced Schooner America2.0 6.5 miles south of Key West to the Sand Key Light. After a late start, we caught the rest of the fleet and excitingly took the lead, finishing first in our class.

We have one more race for the 2026 Wreckers Race Cup Series. Come sail with us the last Sunday of April to experience the thrill!

Wait for the end result!!

We eased off the lifts, made ourselves a canvas tent and climbed inside the sail to get it sewed up. Luckily the rip was right below our second reef point so we could still go sailing, with a deep reef, while we took a couple days to get the sail all sewed up. We’re now back to full sail schoonin’ around Key West!
