: thru the eyes of rat :

I turned 30 and felt a sense of uneasiness, most if not all my friends are married with families (or about to be) and it felt like I was falling behind. We live in a world of hookups, dating apps, low effort and ingenuity. I’ve always been a soft romantic, hand written letters, physical media, and an in person kismet connection yearner.

30 changed some things for me. I felt I grew older and wiser, things I knew but never stuck to for lack of confidence and comfortability. Never will I settle for anything that doesn’t meet the standards I have set and the expectations I have. 30 turned me into an older sister, one I’d come to for advice and potentially might brush off because she accepted the love she thought she deserved.

It’s olivia dean autumn for me, and she said it perfectly “no one to text when the plane lands, no one to call when you’re taking off.” I think in those words I find comfort and courage in my independence.. single, steadfast, but content. Prioritizing and pouring my love into those who pour back heaps and bounds. Romanticizing the mundane and pouring back into me, because no one will ever know or love me more than myself. (other than Jesus the main man)
