Four years ago, I walked into my first cat show knowing almost nothing about the world of pedigreed cats.

This weekend, a cat born in our home officially earned one of the highest honors in the sport: TICA International Winner.

Our boy, IW BW SGC MaineStCoons Toe Be or Not Toe Be (“Toby”), finished the season ranked among the Top 25 Cats of All Breeds Worldwide and earned his second International Breed Win.

What makes this achievement so special isn’t the title itself.

It’s the journey.

The late nights studying pedigrees. The countless miles driven to shows. The friendships and mentorships that made us better breeders. The commitment to preserving the health, temperament, and beauty of the Maine Coon breed. And most importantly, the privilege of raising a cat who embodies everything we love about these gentle giants.

Toby is many things—a show cat, a breeding cat, and now an International Winner—but at home he’s still the same sweet, affectionate boy who follows us from room to room and believes every visitor arrived specifically to see him.

To everyone who has supported Maine Street Coons, encouraged us, mentored us, trusted us with one of our kittens, or celebrated our successes along the way: thank you.

This one is special.

❤️ Toby, you exceeded every dream we had for you.

🏆 INTERNATIONAL WINNER 🏆

What a season.

We are beyond honored to announce that our homegrown boy, IW BW SGC MaineStCoons Toe Be or Not Toe Be, has officially earned the prestigious title of TICA International Winner, placing among the Top 25 Cats of All Breeds Worldwide.

As if that weren’t enough, Toby has once again been named a Breed Winner, finishing the season as the #1 Maine Coon Polydactyl in the World. This follows his remarkable 2025 season when he earned the title of #1 Maine Coon Polydactyl Kitten Worldwide.

Toby also finished the year as the #2 Allbreed Cat in the TICA Southeast Region, competing against outstanding cats from every breed and category.

Those accomplishments are humbling. But the truth is, the ribbons and titles only tell part of the story.

To us, he will always be simply Toby — our loving, charming, twenty-four-toed goofball who never met a stranger, never passed up a cuddle, and somehow managed to make every show weekend more fun than we could have imagined.

As breeders, Toby represents everything we strive to preserve in the Maine Coon breed.

His long rectangular body, substantial boning, powerful musculature, tall ears, long flowing tail, square muzzle, shaggy coat, and unmistakable polydactyl paws embody the written breed standard we work so hard to protect.

But even more importantly, Toby possesses the temperament that made us fall in love with Maine Coons in the first place. He is kind. Calm. Dependable. Outgoing. Confident without being demanding. Gentle without being timid. The very definition of a gentle giant.

To the many judges who recognized his quality throughout the season, and to our TICA friends who cheered him on every step of the way, thank you. Your support means more than we can adequately express.

We are only in the fourth year of our preservation breeding program, and achievements like this remind us how fortunate we are to be trusted stewards of this incredible breed.

We’re proud of the titles.

We’re grateful for the recognition.

But most of all, we’re grateful for Toby.

❤️🐾

Meet MaineStCoons Wind in the Willows, lovingly known as Willow. 🐾

From the moment she was born, I knew she was something extraordinary. ✨ She was the pick of the litter and everything we hope for in a kitten. The only problem was that, at the time, we believed she was a boy—and we simply did not have room for another male in our breeding program. When we later discovered that our “boy” was actually a girl, we were absolutely beside ourselves. 😹 It felt like fate had stepped in and made the decision for us.

Pictured here at four months old beside her father, RW SGC MaineStCoons DandyLion Wishes, Willow is carrying on a legacy that means more to us than words can express. ❤️ Dandy was our very first homebred show cat and earned the title of TICA Southeast Region’s #1 Maine Coon of the Year in 2025. 🏆 Watching his daughter grow has been both humbling and exciting, because somehow Willow may have raised the bar even higher.

At just four months of age, she already possesses the substantial boning, balance, and overall type we strive so carefully to preserve. For a female kitten, her substance is especially remarkable. But as proud as we are of her physical qualities, it is her temperament that truly captures our hearts. 💕

Willow has the confidence, sweetness, and people-oriented nature that make Maine Coons such beloved companions. She greets the world with curiosity, assumes everyone is her friend, and seems convinced that every lap was made just for her. 🥰

Her name comes from one of my favorite childhood books, The Wind in the Willows. 📖 It also feels like a tribute to her father. Dandy’s name was inspired by the humble dandelion, whose seeds take flight on the wind and travel far beyond where they first took root. 🌬️ Willow is that next journey—the wind carrying a cherished legacy forward, while still becoming something entirely her own.

We adore this girl and are honored to watch her story unfold. 💖 The future is hers, and we can’t wait to see where the wind carries her. 🍃

Another year in the books, another trip to the Smokies etched into our hearts. There’s something magical about these mountains that calls us back time and again. It’s more than just a vacation; it’s a tradition.

Trading screen time for ridgelines and notifications for the sound of a rushing creek is a reset we all need. These moments, unplugged and fully present, are where the best memories are made. It’s in the shared laughter on a trail, the quiet awe of a sunset, and the simple joy of being together. This is what it’s all about.

It’s always bittersweet watching our kittens leave for their new homes. ❤️ Each one takes a tiny piece of our hearts with them.

We pour so much love into raising these precious souls, and forming a unique bond with every single one makes saying goodbye incredibly hard. We worry, we hope, and we pray that we’ve made the perfect choice for their forever families.

But seeing the immense joy they bring and knowing they’re going to the most wonderful, loving homes makes it all worthwhile. We trust our thorough process, and we’re so grateful for the amazing families who choose to love one of our Maine Coons. It’s all about happy endings for these sweet kittens and their new people.

Our hearts are full, even if our house feels a little empty for a moment. We know they are starting beautiful new chapters.
