About the artist

“ My name is Rafael Bruno da Silva Braga; I am 39 years old and from São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo. My interest in audiovisual media emerged during my teenage years through skate culture. Beyond just skateboarding, I enjoyed filming sessions with my friends. During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, I decided to stop skating to observe the quarantine. In 2021, I bought my first mirrorless camera with the idea of heading out alone to photograph scenes that caught my eye. Since then, photography has become a fundamental part of my life; I seek to capture the essence of urban life—fleeting moments that reveal the soul of cities and their inhabitants: the people.”

Hello, dear community! I’m Priscila Lira (@prislira_ph) , founder of @streetphotographybrazil, and I’ll be taking over the @mxspf_share account this week (July 27–August 2), sharing photographers whose work has inspired me.

•

My pick today: @rafaelbsbraga 📸

Rafael Braga is a Brazilian street photographer from São Bernardo do Campo whose work reveals the extraordinary within everyday life. After discovering photography through skateboarding and fully embracing it during the pandemic, he developed a visual language rooted in observation, connection, and storytelling.

He is one of the Brazilian photographers I admire the most. What continually draws me to his work is its versatility and his intelligent use of light, shadows, contrast, and reflections. His photographs transform ordinary moments into powerful visual narratives, inviting us to slow down and notice the beauty hidden in everyday scenes.
