Jiu-jitsu wasn’t something I was looking for, but it’s become one of the best investments I’ve made in myself.

Today I earned my 4th stripe as a white belt. I’m proud of this milestone, but the lessons go far beyond the belt.

Every round teaches me to stay calm under pressure, solve problems when I’m uncomfortable, and keep moving forward when I’m exhausted.

Those same lessons have made me a better leader, husband, father, and business owner.

I’m grateful to @socabjjsandiego, my professors, and my training partners who continue to push me, challenge me, and help me grow.

The best part?

This journey is just getting started.

Ossss. 🤙

Big day for the Soca Family at the JJWL Competition.

Our team showed heart, courage, and true Jiu-Jitsu spirit. Every athlete stepped on the mats ready to represent the team and support one another.

We are proud to finish the day with 2nd place in the Adult & Masters Gi division. 🥈

Congratulations to all our competitors, coaches, and teammates. This is what makes our team special — unity, respect, and the will to grow together.

Win or lose, we stand together. That’s the Soca way.

Thank you to everyone who came through and supported at the @jjworldleague tournament.

It’s about showing up and being better than I was, on and off the mats, since my last competition.

The level of white belts in this bracket was tough, not to be taken lightly.

Thankful to test what I’ve learned against them. Their skill and determination inspires me to meet them at their standard.

Humbled. Hungry. And on to the next.

✨ On the mats, every step is a victory.
Professor Rafael is honored to guide Ricky in his private lessons, where patience, trust, and joy meet the art of Jiu-Jitsu. 🥋💙

At Soca BJJ San Diego, we believe Jiu-Jitsu is for everyone, a journey that builds confidence, focus, and strength, while celebrating each student’s unique path.

We’re so proud of you, Ricky! 👏💪
